Vic and Lene arrive at the concert stage around 8 in the morning. Lene rubs her eyes out of exhaustion, jet lag is definitely getting to her.
"Did we really have to arrive this early?" She yawns.
"Omg I think I see Yeji!"
"WHERE?"
The people around them look up and look at Lene, none of them resembling a beautiful ginger haired Korean woman. Instead they were all strangers staring, clearly concerned.
Lene turns away in embarrassment. "Vic.."
"Are you awake n-," Lene kicks him in the shin, "OW WHAT THE FLIP."
"You know damn well you deserved that," she rolls her eyes, I'm really getting my hopes up right now, I need to get back to reality. Even if she is here, we probably won't even talk.
Vic rolls his eyes back with more sass and crosses his arms, "Whatever, come on let's get going." The two of them walk towards the entrance.
———
Loud music fills the room, Lene can feel the beat of the song through the floor in her body. The crowd around wave around their light sticks and shout their fan chants with passion. The large screens display bright smiling faces of four people. Lene follows and waves her light stick around like everyone else along with Vic.
A girl two rows in front catches Lene's eyes. A slim figure, hair tied up in a low ponytail under a hat, and a black mask. She looked awfully suspicious for someone going to a concert. It was hard to tell her hair color due to all the lights, but you could tell it was dyed.
How weird, she seems familiar for some reason, Lene wonders. It became difficult for Lene to see any more of the girl due to the lively crowd so she decided to just disregard her and pay attention to the concert.
———
The endless footsteps of people leaving the venue could be heard after the concert ended. Lene and Vic are standing around waiting, they plan to reenter the building once the crowd has cleared up to meet up with the group.
A few minutes has passed and the place is basically empty. The halls are silent, especially compared to just moments ago.
Clink, Lene hears the sound of something falling on the floor. She turns her head to see a girl walking away and keys on the floor just a few feet away from her.
"Wait give me a sec," Lene says to Vic as she walks away towards the girl.
"Huh..ok..?"
Lene picks the keys up, "Excuse me?" The girl doesn't hear her. She jogs slightly to catch up with the girl who seemingly isn't aware of her presence at all despite all the efforts Lene puts into catching her attention.
"Hello?" Lene reaches out and grabs the girl's wrist.
The girl jumps a little but to the sight of Lene, she takes out her airpods. "..Hi?"
Lene looks at the girl for what feels like a solid 10 minutes straight but in reality was just a few seconds. She's the same girl Lene spotted just a few rows down from her during the concert. Tall, slim, almost all black fit with a cap and a mask, but most importantly, she has long ginger dyed hair tied up in a pony tail.
"Oh um..these keys are yours right?"
"Oh, omg, I'm so sorry," the girl bows. "Thank you, I didn't notice that I dropped them." You can't see her smile directly because of the mask but you could tell because her eyes curved into a cute crescent like shape.
"Of course," Lene smiles back.
Something about her seemed so familiar, as if Lene has seen her many times before but she can't quite put her finger on it. Something about her voice, the way she acts and looks.
The girl is walking away towards the building exit as she slowly lifts her hand to put her airpod back in her ear. As if she was pondering about the encounter just now too.
Then it all clicked.
Just before her hand reached her ear, Lene calls out to her, freezing her in her steps.
"Hwang Yeji?"
