Chapter 18

During the sunset, outside the farm,

Peter was leaning against the fences of the farm. He crossed his arms together and made a pensive face. His doubtful look was still lying on Natasha. Though he did not say anything but all the words had been shown on his face and they were filled with discomfort.

Natasha was still explaining her plan to him, which did not brighten the situation up at all, only made Peter's face become darker as time passed. The longer he heard her plan, the more he found that his brain started getting blanker every single time.

Even though Melina Vostokoff initially betrayed her family, she was no longer loyal to the Red Room and decided to help Romanoff take them down, so they made a plan to infiltrate the base, using the Photostatic Veil to disguise themselves as each other, alert Thaddeus Ross to her location once inside, and land the base. Vostokoff also informed Romanoff of Dreykov's pheromones that prevented any violence against him.

To be honest, this plan was the one of the dumbest plans he had ever heard. It might work if the one who proceeded the plan was Thor, Hulk, Tony Stark, or Captain America... and apparently not a normal human like Natasha, no offense but it's truth.

"Nope. I'm not agree with this ridiculous plan."

"Come on. It's a great plan... Well, it's not but there's a chance it could work."

"And how high is that chance? About 10%."

"No... maybe."

"Ugh, I'm not going to accept it, Nat."

Seeing words couldn't work, Natasha then tried her 'puppy' eyes as she's staring at Peter in a very pitiful way. However, it did not manage to break his will.

"Stop using the 'family bound' or 'element of surprise' to convince me. It sounds even stupider than what you just said."

"Please, Peter."

Again, with the 'puppy' eyes, although it was no use, Natasha was not giving up. Both of them were then staring at each other for over 3 minutes. Until eventually, Peter was the first one to start the conversation first.

"No matter what I say, you are no going to listen, are you?"

"... I'm sorry but I need to do it alone. I know I'm such a horrible person when asking you for help and now, put you on the side."

"I don't care about that. All I care about is your safety, I cannot let you get hurt like this. No way."

"Peter."

"..."

Peter closed his eyes and took a big sigh. He tried to put himself in Natasha's position in order to understand what was inside her mind but somehow, he couldn't. From her eyes, the expression on her face and something inside her heart had changed. Though he could not tell if it would be good or bad, he knew for sure why she changed rapidly like this, mostly because of her family. Therefore, he needed to ask her a very important question before finally deciding his next action about the mission.

"Let's me ask you something, Nat. Is this able it to fix your family problem with this mission?"

"I'm not so sure. A part of me wants to do it by myself... I do have unfinished business with Dreykov."

"..."

"Please, Peter. Just this one."

"Ugh..."

Peter rubbed his eyes tiredly, he had no interest in saying anything else. Natasha was waiting for his answer patiently.
