"What did you say?"

You turned around to look at him once again. He stood there, arms crossed, with a smirk and a "knew it" sorta expression on his face.

"You heard me. Judging from your reaction, i'm right, aren't i?"

Although you were on the verge of breaking down in tears due to all the stress some rabbit had caused you in less than 24 hours, you tried to maintain composure. You took a deep breath, realizing he might just be bluffing.

"And where did you get to that conclusion?" your eyes remained on him.

"Glad you asked! You didn't read the manual, did you?" when he did not receive a response, Childe gave you a charming grin and start walking towards you.

"You see, my older sister is a med student. She's studying to be a vet, to be specific." as he reached you, he walked right past you and then turned back around, this time passing by your other side.

"A few months ago, she was given an assignment to investigate the differences between young and adult animals of the same kind. They drew lots, and my sister got the hare." he went on, still walking in circles around you.

Why is he telling me all this?

"Long story short, she killed the adult one immediately and had to get another one. You know why it died?" Childe asked, stopping right in front of you.

"Did she... feed it tomatoes?"

There was no way. How could you have killed Mrs Willis by simply feeding it tomatoes? Don't bunnies love veggies?

"Bingo!" the ginger clapped with hands.
"You see, Mrs Willis's kind gets progressively more allergic to tomatoes as they age. You can feed a baby bunny as many tomatoes as you like, but only one can kill an older one for less than a day." you were shocked at his ability to remember such facts. How come he has bad grades if he's actually smart?

"I'm guessing that's exactly what happened, because when you first stepped in Ningguang's office, you looked so nervous, even i thought you had gotten caught! But now i believe i know what exactly happened." Childe chuckled to himself.

You were annoyed at how sure he was in himself, yet he still managed to leave you stunned. You knew you couldn't lie your way out of this.

"Wow. I don't know what to say."

"Would you like me to tell everyone so the rumour spreads before you have to tell the school?" he raised his brows.

"No, please don't do anything like that."

You sighed.

"Can you keep it a secret? I swear, i'll do something about it, i just don't want anyone else getting involved in any way."

Childe laughed once again.

"But of course!" he exclaimed, "i mean, what will i win if i just told everyone?"

Something seemed off. You couldn't determine what exactly, but he had been acting way too strange to just not care about all this.

"So... you won't tell anyone?" you asked, looking up at him. He was quite tall.

"Nopie!"

Thank Archons. Relief finally came.

"...under one condition."

You rolled your eyes. Today was really putting you on edge.

"What?" you asked, sounding very clearly annoyed with all this.
