Chapter 3
(My past, my fear)

‘Hey, do you remember Olivia?’ ‘Olivia!’ i heard her name crystal clear. I remembered her. As i did, my eyes became teary. ‘The world in which you are going connects many different worlds together. Do you really want us to harm Ava?’ another whisper said. ‘Ava!’ I thought. ‘Yeah right’ whisper continued, ‘If you want to prevent Ava’s soul, open your windows and quit the journey.’ I didn’t know what it was or what should I do. I knew it was a trap but I also knew this world can’t be trusted. ‘Ervin! Save me Ervin!’ My eyes widened. I recognized this voice. It was Ava! “Ava!” I mumbled. Ava’s scream forced me to open the windows so I can help her to not fall in trouble due to my any foolishness. My hands reached the windows and as I was about to open it, an icy cold hand held my hand tightly. My eyes followed the hand. It was Brenda again. She looked at me. Her eyebrows raised and linings on her forehead with a question look. She kept her fingers on her lips indicating me to just shut up. I tried to get my hand released but her grip was tighter than expected. It was not tight enough to hurt me, but enough to not let me go. Her hands were very cold. She was directly looking in my eyes into my soul and slowly all the whispers fade away. I was kind of hypnotized. I was hearing nothing until a scream broke the silence and I looked in that direction. Two  conductors were blocking the view and were doing something. Everyone was looking there. After a minute the conductors walked away, the window near that seat was covered with a piece of some material and was sealed. The more shocking thing was the boy on that seat was no more there. In fact, he was now nowhere.
I understood that they must have opened the window. I looked back at my savior to thank her, but before I could say anything she said: “Don’t worry, I’m fine saving you.” she passed me a smile. I smiled back. She seemed very sweet and polite. She asked me “well, how do you think your soulmate could be?” “Hmm?” I looked at her. “I mean we all have some kind of expectations, right? So, what do you think?” she continued “I believe that the person for me should just be good to me. I just expect him to respect and trust me.” “That’s sweet.” I replied, “I’m here to be with her.” “Who?” asked Brenda. “Ava” I replied, “my fiancée. We were together for about 9 years.” I paused, “But just 8 days before our wedding, she died in a car accident.” “I’m…I’m so sorry to hear that but...." she hesitated. "I’ve heard that it’s not necessary for our soulmate to be what or who we think.” She spoke. “What do you mean?” I replied. “I don’t want to let you down but the person you choose for yourself and the person universe chooses for you can be different” she said defending herself. “WHAT. DO. YOU. MEAN.?” I was getting furious. “I’m not trying to offend you but I’m just telling you the possibilities. It’s not necessary…” “IT IS!” I almost shouted, making Brenda shiver a little. The thought of not meeting Ava got me enraged at a different level. “Who are you to decide things huh!” “Hey, calm down. I know you must be eager to meet her but you should know that keeping hope is good but being ready for bad is necessary” “just… never mind.” I stood up and walked away. I knew she did not mean to hurt me and was just counting the possibilities but I really did not want to explain myself anything. I knew roaming in such a train is not a great idea but I did not want to stay there. At the end of my coach was the exit gate. I leaned at the wall just beside the exit gate. The lights were very dim. I was thinking about Ava. How I met her, how the wedding was arranged, how excited she was to be with me. I was brought out from my thoughts with sound of footsteps. I looked in the direction of the voice. A conductor came towards me. “Good evening gentlemen.” He spoke. “Good evening” I replied. “Well why are you not at your seat?” he asked politely. “I just needed a stroll for a change of mind.” I replied. “You shouldn’t have come here.” He said looking at the ground while leaning on the wall in front of me. “Sorry?” I was confused. “We as humans come here either out of curiosity or grief. Decisions made due to either of this can bring destruction in one’s life.” he said. “But there must be some probability of happy ending, if it’s a sad ending, I’ll take that as well.” and I mean it. “And how about no ending?” this line of his gave me slight goosebumps. “What was that” I asked to which he just smiled. “Grief fades with time but not slavery, especially if you are slave of some other world. 10 years of me here just showed 98 per cent of destruction. Let’s see where you’ll stand. Now I request you to get back to your seat.” And before I could say anything he walked away. ‘No ending’ his words roamed in my mind as I was going back to my seat '98 per cent of people just ended in destruction’ ‘grief fades not slavery….’ I reconsidered my decision but there was no way back. ‘What the hell am I thinking, I’m one for Ava and she is one for me. Why am I even getting these thoughts!’ I sat back at my seat and noticed Brenda was missing. I looked around ‘maybe I offended her’ “If you think you offended me, not really” Brenda came in front of me and took her seat “I totally understand your reaction.” “I’m sorry I shouldn’t have been that rude.” I apologized. “Its fine” she smiled. Her smile was very genuine and innocent just like Olivia ‘Olivia’ I thought. ‘Why am I even thinking about her.’ “The rivers and the mountains, the hills, and the valleys. Whales sings majestically while I roam around the alley.” Brenda said suddenly. “Uhm, what was that?” “Just hear, we are soon going to enter the seas.” “The seas?” I asked. “Uh…. huh, it’s said the whales sings mesmerizingly in these seas but as you open the windows you enter in trouble just like how those people now did.” In response I just slightly nodded my head. Sleeping seemed the best way to escape the troubles but leaning head on chair gave me real pain after few minutes and I sat normally back again. “You may rest your head on table.” Brenda advised. I nodded and rested my head on table. For some unknown reason it was very comfortable.
