With scornful laughter, they mocked you.
"It's just a joke!" they said.
They broke your heart with spoken words,
Your delicate self-confidence, merely a forgotten thought.
Sad and unamused, you search for new friends.
But their words still haunt you, when would this end?
Till you're too scared to talk? Frightened by your own shadow?
They'd keep laughing on,
Unaware of your sorrow.
They know nothing about you,
Not of your silent struggles.
They don't see the demons that haunt you, relentlessly, day and night.
To them it comes easy,
The confidence seems natural.
The way they stand, the way they talk,
The way they seat, the way they walk.
Not a hair out of place, they seem almost...perfect.
But that's not the case 'cause no one truly is.
We all have our insecurities,
But they're better at hiding theirs and that's how it is.
They'd mock you, trust me, to feel better about themselves.
But it's up to you to decide,
To let it sting or let it slide.
You have no choice but to build yourself a barrier,
Don't let them bring you down, don't give them that power.
