~To The Story~
"... (Y/n), are you listening?"
"Huh?..." You look up from your homework only to see your mother hovering close by. Her arms were crossed as she gave you a stern look. A look she would give whenever you weren't listening. "... Sorry, what?"
Your mother looked annoyed for a moment, but when she glanced at your opened textbook, her expression became less annoyed.
"Hm." She nods approvingly. "It's nice to see you so focused on your studies."
"Err..." You strained a smile.
In actuality, you were only daydreaming. Ever since yesterday, that's all you've been doing. No matter how hard you tried to distract yourself, you would always lose focus.
"Anyway, what was I saying... oh right. I'm going to be home late tonight and so is your father. There are some leftovers in the fridge, so please eat them. Also, don't forget to do your laundry."
"Ah, sure." You distantly, your eyes went back to your homework and your mother's stern expression slowly turned into confusion. Your mother assumed you still weren't listening to her and she was about to call you out on it but another member of the (l/n) family interrupted her.
"Mom, are you in here?" It was your sister's voice. Seconds later, she appeared in the living room. "There you are."
"What is it, dear?" Your mother asked.
"It's nothing. I just wanted to tell you that I invited Gakushu over so we could study together." Your sister clasped her hands together and smiled sweetly. "I hope that's okay."
At the mention of his name, your heart jumped.
'Stop it, you stupid heart!'
"That's fine. You both could join (y/n)." your mother says. When your mother checks her golden wristwatch, she quickly but gracefully leaves the room. "Bye, girls."
Your sister was the only one who said goodbye back to your mother.
And once again, you were lost in thought. So lost, that you didn't notice your sister approaching you until she sat next to you and spoke.
"Are you going to join me and Gakushu?" (Sister's name) asked with a hopeful smile. "It would be like a study group session."
Because your feelings for Gakushu were still new, you lost your cool for a second there from the thought of being with him in a simple study session.
You frowned. "No way."
Your sister blinks at your annoyance. "Y...You're not mad at me for ditching yesterday, are you? I'm sorry." She sheepishly twirls her hair. "I just thought it was cute that he wanted to spend time with you. I don't recall him ever doing that."
You glance at her apologetic look and sigh. Ever since your discovery yesterday, bringing Gakushu up has become a sensitive subject. It has nothing to do with her. "I'm not mad about that." You said gently. "You know I just don't like studying."
She chuckles. "That's true." Her eyes then slid off to where your assignments were. She knows you've been in here for over an hour and judging by the looks of the assignment, it shouldn't have taken that long. "How is your studying going by the way?"
You shrugged. "It's fine."
"Are you sure?" She asks with a concerned look. "You don't put that much effort into your assignments and you barely study--"
You toss your pencil onto the page of your textbook.
"I said it's fine." You snapped.
All your sister could was stare back at you in shock as you picked up your belongings and stormed out of the room.
