~To The Story~
Ah, Friday. One of the most popular days of the week among teenagers. Some go out to parties, some might have dates, and some just don't go out at all. You fall into that category. Sure when you had friends, you would sometimes hang out with them, but you usually prefer to stay home.
Your sister, however, always has plans. Every Friday when you're having dinner with your family, your parents would often ask what your plans are for the weekend. Your sister, of course, talked for the most. She was a busybody and loved going out. Tomorrow, she plans on going to the park where a food festival is being held with some friends. In the evening, she was also invited to see a school play by a friend from a different school tomorrow night.
Every week, you couldn't help but feel envious when you heard her plans. As much as you enjoy being home alone, it must be nice being well-liked enough to be constantly invited to go to places. You recently did get invited to go to a birthday party, but it doesn't mean much if the person was haphazardly giving them out.
If you were anything like your sister, you wouldn't have fake friends, you would constantly get invited out, and you wouldn't have to suffer any humiliation if you ever received a poor grade. If only you were her, you thought grimly.
"Do you need me to pick you up afterwards?" Your father asks your sister.
"Oh, don't worry Dad." Your sister smiles reassuringly. "I'm getting a ride back from one of my friends."
Your sister seemed to be done talking, which now moved the attention to you.
"So, (y/n). Any plans for this weekend?" Your mother asks.
You winced, only realizing now how much you hated that question. Your answers will only highlight how boring you are in comparison to your sister.
For you, there were always two answers to that question. Sometimes you would answer them by saying you're going out with some friends, which is an answer that satisfies them. But, now that you don't have any friends, your parents will have to get used to the second answer you would give them when it comes to that question.
"... I don't know." You shrugged and quietly picked your food.
Your parents, mainly your mother seemed, as always, disappointed with that answer. And because of that, you didn't have the heart to tell them you stopped hanging out with your old friends. Your parents seemed happy whenever they invited you to do things.
"Why don't you go to the play tomorrow with (sister's name)?" Your mother suggests and your sister lits up.
"That would be fun~" Your sister eagerly bobbed her head. "The play is a murder mystery. You like murder mysteries (y/n)."
You pursed your lips to the side, almost letting out a grimace. You have no problem hanging out with your sister, but, you didn't feel comfortable hanging out with her when she's with her friends. It's happened several times and you hated it. You would always feel so invisible when you're with them. If you want to feel invisible, you attend a family gathering.
"No thanks."
It's not as if your mother doesn't mind you choosing to stay home for the weekend. But, because you've seemed interested in anything besides your otaku hobbies, she wants you to take a break and go out every now and then.
"Dear," your mother turns to your dad. "Why don't you take her to work with you tomorrow?"
You knew why she would ask him instead of offering you to go to where she works. Your mother owns a popular clothing store here in Tokyo. She's always been interested in fashion. But, you never really cared for it. You've visited her workplace several times, but all you did was sneak away to play on one of your handheld gaming counsels.
