~To The Story~
Gakushu slowly and carefully pushed the chair across the dining room until it was pressed against the wall, underneath the landline. Before Gakushu can climb the chair, he pauses, trying to listen to any signs that his father is coming downstairs.
The house was completely silent and the only thing he could hear was the beating of his heart, thundering in his chest. Gakushu was never a disobeitant child. Despite being only six years old, Gakushu was a rather respectful child and never went against his father's rules. But today, while he was supposed to be in his room studying, he snuck out, feeling a little rebellious. He was craving for a break from the mountains of work he needed to do.
In the clear, Gakushu climbs up the chair and grabs the phone on the wall. He dials the (l/n) household number, which he easily memorizes when he sees the number written down somewhere in his father's room.
He waits for someone to pick up the phone, all while keeping his eyes on the entrance of the kitchen. His heart was racing the entire time. And when someone picked up, his breath hitched.
"Hello~?" A familiar voice chipped.
"(Sister's name)? Hi. It's Gakushu."
"Oh hi, Shu. Do you need something?"
Gakushu glanced at the kitchen door and held his breath, listening to any signs that his father was about to leave his home office. "I was wondering if you could come over to help me with some of my Math homework."
"What?" (Sister's name) said a little too loudly. "Ugh, hang on a second." Her voice grew distantly, but he was able to hear her. "(Y/n), please lower the volume, I can't hear Gakushu."
"But I can't hear my show." Gakushu heard you in the background.
"You've seen this episode like a million times."
"And you talk to Gakushu like a million times."
There was back and forth between the two of you, but in the end, you obeyed your big sister when she became more persistent. The volume went down and (sister's name) sighed.
"Whew, sorry about that Gakushu. Now what is?"
"I... I was just going to ask if you could help me with my Math homework. Please?" Gakushu felt a twinge of guilt for lying. Even for someone his age, learning math came easy to him and he never needed much help. But, it was the best excuse he could think of to bring her over here.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Gakushu." She said sadly. "I'm going over to a friend's house now. Maybe next time, okay?"
In the distance, he can hear your father calling (sister's name), saying he's ready to drop her off.
"Coming father. Bye, Gakushu." She said happily, unaware that his only option of escapism was leaving him alone. "Good luck with your homework. If you really do need help, just ask your dad."
And then she hung up.
Gakushu could only hang his low. He expected this. (Sister's name) was three years older than him. It's only natural she would want to spend more time with her friends who were the same age as her, rather than with him. He put the phone back and sighed quietly. He put the chair back in its exact spot and quietly went upstairs.
Having no other choice, he sneaks back to his room.
Gakushu begrudgingly sat on his desk. His math homework was only halfway done. He purposely left it for (sister's name) to help him, but now that she's not coming over, Gakushu has no choice but to finish it.
