During one calm and tranquil night, two girls were walking down an old, rustic sidewalk. They were laughing and giggling as they went. The one girl whose hair was long to her shoulders and brown, snorted as her other friend enthusiastically waved her arms in the air.
"And have you heard about the disappearances?! Such stupid people!"exclaimed the friend playfully. The brown haired girl rolled her eyes as she continued on down the path.
"Lyra," said the brown haired girl clearly addressing her friend, "You shouldn't joke about that kind of stuff." In return, Lyra rolled her eyes.
"I don't really care, it's fun to joke about," replied Lyra with a smug look, only to receive a sigh in return. As her friend went to respond, the air became dense and thick with an unknown tension. The air was so thick it could almost be cut with a knife. Suddenly a bright bolt of light flashed, blinding both Lyra and her friend. A loud crash echoed around the area causing Lyra to stumble blindly while covering her ear, trying to block out the ringing. Once her vision cleared and the ringing stopped, Lyra stumbled around looking for her friend, who was nowhere in sight. Panicking, Lyra shouted her friend's name in hopes to hear a response, only to be returned with silence.
"Ava...?" She yelled one last time, her voice sore from the shouting. Lyra slowly walked around still shaken from the loud and unknown flash, as the sky was sprinkled with stars and no clouds were in sight. She walked around looking desperately for her friend, only to find nothing. As Lyra turned around ready to run back home in hopes to find help, she noticed a small black note, dotted with unknown specks of red. Lyra picked up the note cautiously and flipped it open. Curiously she began to read the white cursive writing.
Hello, my friend. It seems I have something of value to you. If you want your friend back, you must find me and defeat me. Be quick though, the time is ticking, and your friend will soon go missing.
Lyra dropped the note in horror and disbelief as she covered her mouth to prevent the inevitable scream. She slowly moderately calmed down and picked the note back up with her shaky hands. She stared at it before slowly narrowing her eyes. Lyra slipped the note into her back pocket as she stared into the clear sky.
"I will find my friend, and once I do, that monster will pay."
