here y'all go fr now <3
As Taraji looked up at the clouds with her head resting in her girlfriend's lap, she felt at peace. Once the families had gotten back to the Davids' palace, Sheryl and Keith decided they needed a picnic out in the garden for lunch. So Taraji and her parents, full from the wonderful lunch, reclined while they were being sung to by the musical family. Taraji loved hearing Fantasia sing and she thought her voice blended very well with her parents'. The song came to an end and Taraji sat up and hugged Fantasia, peppering her face with kisses.
"You are ridiculously talented," Taraji complemented. Fantasia beamed, the two of them getting lost in each other. The two sets of parents realized that the girls had disappeared in their own world and they let it happen, happy to see their daughters happy.
Fantasia leaned close to Taraji's ear, kissing under it before telling her, "let's go for a walk. I need to tell you something." Taraji pulled back, giving her a little nod, starting to stand up. "We're going to go on a walk if that's okay. We'll just meet you guys inside so I can grab my things before we leave for the castle," Fantasia told their parents. She received nods and thumbs ups so she stood up, taking Taraji's hand and leading her away from the family picnic.
"I really like your parents. They're cool people," Taraji said when they were out of earshot. Fantasia was leading her through the outer parts of the garden, passing family trees and lonely statues. "I'm glad they're supportive. I was kind of worried. It's one thing to say things over the phone but being faced with it is a totally different ballgame."
"Yeah they're great. I just wish I hadn't been so sheltered. Before charm school and meeting you guys I felt like I was normal and not missing out on anything, but now I feel so... dumb," Fantasia confessed, her frustrations making themselves apparent on her face. Taraji stopped their walk, turning Fantasia to face her.
"You are not dumb, pretty. Just a little green, but that's okay! Everyone learns at a different time in life. I love the way my parents exposed me to many different things and had those difficult conversations, but I wish I would have been told 'no' to some things. I've made decisions in my life already that I'm not the proudest of because I was given free reign to experiment and hands-on learn." Fantasia nodded in understanding and continued to walk them around, starting to lead them back inside. "There are so many things you have shared and are going to share with me at some point that I would do anything to give back to you." Fantasia's hands trembled as she opened her favorite room of the place, trying not to get teary as she took in Taraji's words. Taraji pulled at Fantasia's hand slightly causing Fantasia to turn to her. "I wish I knew to wait for you." Fantasia felt her heart might bust open at the seams with the emotions it carried. Taraji kissed Fantasia's lips quickly, using her thumb to wipe away any tears that had fallen. Fantasia smiled, leading them into the room.
"This is my favorite place to be when at home." Taraji looked around the space, noticing that it was a music room with a small recording booth on the farthest wall. There was a piano and multiple guitars, music stands and various small trinkets sprinkled around the room. In lieu of chairs there were beanbags, and there was no overhead lighting, just warm lamps. It was so cozy and Taraji quickly understood why it was Fantasia's favorite place. It fit her vibes perfectly. "I um, don't usually let people in here. It's my equivalent to your library. But I've been working on some lyrics to a song I only have the music for while we've been at charm school and I wanted to record it while I was back here. Is that okay with you? I'd love for you to hear it," Fantasia told her, sitting Taraji down in a beanbag near the booth. Taraji willingly took the headphones Fantasia had handed to her and put them on. She watched Fantasia work her magic on the board, seemingly floating in her element as she got herself set up to sing. Fantasia started her music, stepping behind the mic and started to sing.
My makeup smeared on the counter
As I'm wiping off my eyeliner
I look up, there you are
Smiling at me through the mirrorTaraji smiled, relaxing into the beanbag as she let Fantasia's voice fill her ears.
I lose my breath
Oh, every time
You take me in
With just your eyes
In my bare skin
All my doubts reside
I could stay in your gaze forever
NowTaraji felt like Fantasia was singing right to her soul, her lyrics matching the feeling she gets every time they are with each other. She looked up to see Fantasia looking right at her, tears brimming her eyes as she sang. It wasn't until Taraji really listened to the words that she realized Fantasia was singing about her. Fantasia had written her a song.
Signs are slow
Oh, I just love
The way you look at me
No, at night I wish
I could bottle it up
And stir it up in my tea
Oh, the way you look at meThe song came to an end and the music stopped, both princesses feeling so open and vulnerable. Taraji had never in a million years would have guessed that Fantasia would write a song about her, especially one so beautiful and loving. It made her think about what she had told Fantasia earlier about her sharing so much and it made Taraji feel almost guilty. She didn't have time to dwell on the feeling, her girlfriend sitting herself down in her lap, wiping at their faces.
"We're such crybabies," Taraji said with a laugh. Fantasia giggled, kissing Taraji's cheek and hugging her tight. "That was beautiful, and I love you. Thank you so much for being willing to let me listen. Most artists are very protective of their art because it is something so deeply personal. So thank you for sharing that with me." Fantasia smiled, blanking back more tears before leaving their hug to kiss Taraji some more.
"Babe?"
"Yes, pretty?"
"I brought you in here to show you my song that I wrote for you, but there's also something else I want to tell you." Fantasia nibbled on her bottom lip, more nervous about Taraji's reaction than what she had to say.
"What's that?" Fantasia sat up and held Taraji's face, making sure she knew without a doubt that Fantasia was 100% serious.
"I'm ready." Taraji paused for a minute, a slight tension in the air because she wasn't sure what Fantasia meant but she was sure it wasn't what she was thinking.
"For what, baby?"
"Sex," Fantasia said boldly, leaving no room for doubts between them.
"Fantasia, baby, that's big. Are you sure?" Taraji was worried that they had gone too far earlier in the day if Fantasia was considering going all the way.
"I promise. I've been thinking about it for more than a little while. I want this and I want you." Fantasia spoke with so much confidence that Taraji had no choice but to believe her.
"Okay."
"Okay?"
"Okay."
