You were distraught, the hours ticking by with no word from Black. Anxiety gnawed at your insides as you anxiously awaited his return, finding solace only in the innocent laughter of his daughter, a beacon of light in the darkness that had descended upon your world.
As you and the little girl played with building blocks, the creak of the door opening shattered the fragile calm. Hope surged within you as you rose to greet Black, ready to pour out your worries and frustrations.
"Black! Where were you!? I was extremely distraught!" Your words spilled forth, a torrent of emotion fueled by fear and uncertainty.
But the man who stood before you was not the Black you knew. Frustration and fury etched lines upon his face, his gaze icy and distant as he brushed past you, ignoring your pleas for explanation.
And then the storm broke. Black's voice, laced with bitterness and accusation, tore through the fragile peace of the cabin, laying bare the wounds that festered beneath the surface. He blamed you, he blamed the child—his own flesh and blood—as burdens that had weakened him, robbed him of his strength and purpose.
The confrontation was fierce, each word a dagger slicing through the fragile bonds that had once held you together. Tears stung your eyes as Black's tirade reached its crescendo, his demand echoing in the empty spaces of the room.
"Leave," he spat, the venom in his voice cutting deeper than any blade. "Leave and never return."
Heartbroken and reeling from the force of his rejection, you fled into the biting cold of the winter night, tears freezing on your cheeks as you stumbled through the snow. Seeking refuge in the familiar warmth of your best friend Bulma's embrace, you collapsed into her arms, the weight of your shattered dreams too heavy to bear alone.
You sat on the floor of the living room, watching your daughter color some pictures when you heard a pounding on the door and Bulma's footsteps approaching to answer it.
"What do you want? She doesn't want to see you... hey!" Bulma's voice exclaimed, sounding as though Black had pushed past her, making his way into her house.
You sensed Black's presence behind you, but you refused to look at him.
"Papa," the little girl's voice rang out as she caught sight of her father. She began to take cautious steps towards Black, but you stopped her. Black passive-aggressively claimed that she was his daughter, to which you responded, reminding him of his earlier declaration that he didn't want the child around after your heated argument.
Glancing down at the tear-filled eyes of the little girl, you felt a pang of compassion tug at your heart. With a resigned sigh, you carefully lifted the child into your arms and approached Black, still refusing to meet his gaze. The girl reached out her arms towards her father, and he welcomed her eagerly into his embrace.
As the tension hung thick in the air, you and Black stood in uneasy silence, the weight of unspoken words suffocating the space between you. Finally, Black's voice broke through the stillness, pleading with you to look at him.
"Please, just... look at me," he implored, his tone tinged with desperation.
But you remained resolute, your eyes fixed firmly on the ground as you spoke in a voice heavy with emotion. "I can't"
A heavy silence settled over you once more, broken only by the soft sobs of the little girl nestled in her mother's arms. And then, slowly, tentatively, Black began to speak.
"I'm sorry," he whispered, his voice raw with sincerity. "I was wrong to say those things. I was... scared, and I lashed out. But none of it was true. I love her, I love both of you."
Feeling a lump form in your throat at his words, the weight of his apology washing over you like a wave, you finally dared to lift your gaze to meet his, finding remorse and regret etched in the lines of his face.
With a deep breath, you relented, your heart aching but willing to try once more. "...alright... let's go home."
