Ch. 20: The Battle for Green Hills

"TiMe t0 FiGhT."

The Death Egg Robot formed an upside-down triangle with his hands, releasing hundreds of Egg-Drones and Buzz Bombers out into the town that swarmed the quartet. The four misfits readied themselves as the drones all swarmed in for the attack.

Willow immediately casted up a lavender crystalline barrier to the best of her ability, with some holes here and there. Any drones that got through were taken out by the Mobians, whether it be spin dashed, blown out of the sky, or pulverized.

"Bad time to say this, but I don't actually have a plan," admitted Sonic before performing a calisthenics kick combo on some Egg-Drones. He turned over his shoulder to the kit blasting away with the mini-blaster. "Tails, any ideas?"

"We have to find his weak spot."

"I suggest the groin," recommended Knuckles.

Sonic and Willow both gave the echidna a grimaced look. "What? No!"

"Gross!"

"No!"

"Traditionally, yes. The groin is the weakest spot," Knuckles pointed out as he smashed an Egg-Drone under his arm.

"Stop. Saying. 'Groin'!" Sonic and Willow both whined at him.

"HeDg€h0g!"

They all whipped around in the Death Egg Robot's direction as it began shooting laser blasts from its wrists at where they were standing.

"Look out!" The barrier dissipated; the quartet bounded off the pile right before it was demolished.

A lightbulb suddenly went off over the Blue Blur's head as they charged towards the Death Egg Robot. "I know what his weak spot is. It's me! I'm the groin!" The four split into twos, Sonic with Tails and Willow with Knuckles, as they charged through any drones that stood in their way. "Think about it!" explained Sonic, as Knuckles thrust him into the air to spin dash some Egg-Drones ; he then linked up with Tails and performed a flight hammer throw/speed combo into a couple more. "I live rent-free in this dude's head, so if I go out there and rile him up—"

"He'll focus on only you, leaving himself open to a flanking maneuver from me, Willow and the Fox!" finished Knuckles in realization as he and Willow bashed through drones before joining back up with Sonic and Tails. "Hedgehog, you are a brave and noble warrior! Go to your certain death with honor!"

Sonic raised an eyebrow at the echidna, sweat-dropping, "We're gonna have to work on your pep talks, pal."

Tails and Willow both chuckled in agreement. "Yeah."

With the plan all set, Sonic fixated back on the Death Egg Robot. "Let's go!"

The four split up into different streets. Sonic stopped right at the foot of the metal colossus and hollered, "Alright, mustache! You want me? Come and get me!"

"YoU d0n'T t€łL Me Ab0uT c0m1nG AnD g€tTiNg," sneered the robot, about ready to burst a blood vessel. "1 aM oN tHe CǔTťIńG €ďG€ O£ C0M1Nġ AńD ġEťT1Nġ!" He then proceeded to march in attempt to squash him. "CoMiNg, g€tTiNg! CoMiNg, g€tTiNg! CoMiNg, g€tTiNg!"

As the Death Egg Robot took the bait, following Sonic away from the town, Tails, Willow and Knuckles joined back up and took to the rooftops to catch up with the robot. Leaping off of the last roof, Tails and Willow each took one of Knuckles burly arms and carried him into the sky.
