Sebastian's POV
Eliza looked worried as Sebastian watched her walk into Professor Sharp's classroom. He assumed she was just upset that she was running late to class. She always hated being late.
She looked beautiful as she scanned the room for an open seat. Her long black hair was pulled half up which he wasn't used to seeing it styled that way. She usually preferred to keep it all pulled back in a bun or braid to keep it out of her face. She wore more makeup than she used too, not that she needed it but it accentuated her natural beauty. She looked timid, scared almost. The complete opposite of how she used to be. It made his heart ache.
He watched her breath stop as her eyes fell on the only open seat which was at the station that he, Ominis, and Imelda sat at. Three ghosts of her past life.
Sebastian had found Imelda sleeping on one of the couches in the common room this morning. He woke her up before more students started to wake and ask questions but she admitted she slept there often throughout the previous school year. He noticed that it looked like she had been crying and she had. Having once been so close to Eliza herself, she still couldn't handle this new side she had become.
Sebastian imagined she had it the hardest out of the three of them. In their dorm it used to be Eliza and Imelda against the soul sucking, mean girls, Amara and Lilith. In their return to sixth year two versus two had become three against one and Imelda was left alone to withstand their bullying, wondering what happened to her best friend.
Sebastian told himself not to stare at Eliza but he couldn't help himself. For the briefest moment he allowed himself to pretend that everything was normal. That was until she opened her mouth.
"Eliza." Ominis greeted her as she reluctantly took the last open spot at their station across from him, looking around in hopes that there would be another spot open.
Sebastian shot Ominis a look questioning why it seemed like he was trying to provoke her. For as much as he says he likes to avoid drama, there have been many situations where Ominis had been the one stirring the pot himself.
"What?"
Sebastian had never heard so much poison fill a word out of her mouth. Even in the past when she'd get angry there would still be a touch of sweetness in her voice. She'd be angry because she cared so much. Now she just seemed angry which made him angry. He did this to her, he was the reason she decided to forego her memories. He could kick himself for saying all those things he did on that day at St Mungos. He should have just let her continue to suffer over him. Yes she was in pain but she'd at least still be herself.
Sebastian didn't know how he was going to make it through class without saying anything to her. Maybe it took him sleeping on the ground to realize it but Ominis was right. He had to be careful around her.
Finally Professor Sharp arrived, giving him a distraction.
"Apologies for my tardiness, today we will be brewing Wigg-" he cut off his words taking a double-take at their station. "Brewing Wiggenweld."
Sebastian imagined it must have been a sight to see the three of them back together. Professor Sharp probably experienced something along the lines of PTSD from all the mischief they had gotten into back in fifth year. From what Sebastian had picked up, all the professors had also noticed a change in Eliza's personality. Though it wasn't really wise for a professor to get involved in the matters of the pureblood families, even if they thought they should. Just look how everything turned out for Professor Fig.
After his death his name was slandered and dragged through the mud. It was devastating that the truth was buried with him and the only person who could defend him couldn't remember who she was.
