Chapter FIVE

I watch as he walk towards me but to my surprise, he just walk past me and went to grab his food. Instead of feeling relieved, I felt a sudden lump in my throat. Is he mad at me?

"Uh...I'm sorry but I have to get back to the shop. I might have customers waiting and I'm the only one who handles my bakery." I said, smiling at everyone looking at me except for Ni-Ki.

"You want me to drive you back?" Jay offered.

"Oh no thank you, I have my bike with me." I smiled at his generosity.

"Alright, careful okay? Thank you for these. These are the bomb!"

My smile got wider as I bow down, slowly leaving the premises. I heard them shout 'thank you' before I completely left the building. Jay and his friends are very kind.

I went back to the bakery and was about to unlock it to re-open when a hand suddenly grabbed my wrist, stopping me for what I was about to do. Startled, I looked up to see Ni-Ki, panting heavily with sweats dripping down his forehead.

"Ni-Ki??" I asked, surprised.

"I..." He couldn't finish what he's about to say as he's been panting heavily. Did he run all the way here?

"What are you doing here? Come inside, I'll give you a water." I complete opened the shop and we both entered. I poured him a glass of water and offered it to him, "Why did you run all the way here? You could've asked your driver to drive you or don't you have a car? What about taking a cab?"

His lips lit up to a smirk. This is the first time I've seen him smirk.

"Are you okay?" He asked with a serious expression.

"Huh?" My head tilted in confusion.

"I saw you cut your finger."

I looked at my finger with a small cut. I dropped a glass earlier this morning and accidentally cut myself.

"It's no big deal. I'm okay." I chuckled. He came all the way here to ask that?

"I...."

He was about to say something when I saw a man knocking on the door. A homeless man with a signage, signaling for me to give him something to eat as he looks so hungry.

"One sec." I signaled Ni-Ki and went to the kitchen to prepare him a bento and water and took a some money to give.

"Hi..." I greeted the homeless man.

"I'm so sorry for knocking on your door but I'm just really hungry." He looks so helpless and he was skinny.

I smiled and gave him the bento, bottled water and ₩5000. "Take this and make yourself full. It's not much but I hope this helps."

He teary-eyed took what I offered and keep bowing down as a gratitude, "Thank you. Thank you. You're an angel."

I shook my head and held my tears back. I'm just too soft for this.

"If you feel hungry again, just come back and I'll give you something eat okay?" I said, flashing him a smile.

"Thank you so much. God bless you and your shop." He bowed for the last time before leaving to look for a place to eat his food.

I sighed in relief knowing that I was able to help and went back inside. My eyes met Ni-Ki and he was looking at me the whole time. I almost forgot he was here.

He cleared his throat and stood up, "I came to give you this. I think this belongs to you."

I took this inhaler from his hand, "I think I dropped this in your car. Thank you."

He looked at me one last time without saying a word then left. Hm...you're so mysterious Ni-Ki. I can't read your mind but I don't think you're a bad guy. Why am I hoping you'll come visit the shop again?

"Yes, we're fine mom. Spencer is here too." I'm currently talking to my mom via videocall.

"Is he behaving well? Let me know if he's giving you headaches and I'll bring him back here."

I smiled and shook my head, "Spencer's having the time of his life, mom. I'm glad he grew up to be a good boy."

"Good to hear. Anyways, I gotta go I still have a meeting to attend to. Just give me a call if you need something okay? Love you."

"Love you too." I said before ending the call.

Just in time for Spencer to come into my room and asked, "Was that mom?"

"Yup. She was asking how you're doing. You should give her a call."

"Yeah and talk about school? No thanks."

I was about to continue the painting that I was doing when something popped in my mind at the same time, my stomach growling.

"Hey!" I called Spencer before he completely closes the door.

"What?"

"You hungry?"

"Uh..."

"I made better sales today. Wanna eat Samgyeopsal?"

His eyes lit up, smiling wide while nodding his head. I chuckled and got out of bed to grab my coat.

We are now walking on our way home with our stomachs full. I can't believe Spencer eats like pig but we just laughed it off because the owner almost kicks us out for ordering too much. I mean, that was unlimited grill?

"I think I'm full until tomorrow's dinner. I ate too much." I hear Spencer complains while holding his stomach.

"I'm glad you're self-aware." I replied while laughing.

We were walking without saying a word to each other when I witness a gang fight. It's a rare scenario for a group of people having fight in this area but I won't go around snooping my nose.

"Don't look and walk faster, okay?" I told Spencer.

He just nods and we started walking faster while looking down but I don't know why my instinct told me to look up so I did and noticed a familiar face getting beat up in the fight.

My eyes widened and my immediate reaction was to run to that group of men while shouting, "Ya! I'm a cop!"

The group of men immediately ran off the scene while I was shouting that I'm a cop even though I'm far from looking like a cop.

Ni-Ki can now barely stands up with bloody face. He has bruise on his cheek and a cut lip.

"OmyGod, Ni-Ki." I held his waist to support him from falling down. Where the heck is his friends and why is he being beaten up!? "Spencer! Give me a hand!"

Spencer followed and supported Ni-Ki as well. With sounds of grunting, we were able to get to my house.
