                      Chapter ten
                  the maze runner

let's get into it

I wake up, with my memories, i basically remember everything, well at least i think it's everything

I remember Teresa, we used to be friends

"Hey" Minho says over me, his hand playing with my hair, while my head lays in his lap

"You okay?" He asks

"What the hell were you thinking?" Chuck says, i look up to see i'm in the pit

I sit up straight, Newt, Thomas and Chuck are sitting outside it

"What happened?" I ask, glancing at Minho then back at the other three

"Gally's taken control" Thomas says, he doesn't sound happy

"He said we had a choice, either join him or get banished at sun down with you" Newt adds

"Wait me?" I question

"Yeah" Minho confirms

"And the others agreed to that?" I ask

"Gally has everyone convinced, that you're the reason this has happened" Minho replies

"Well he's been right so far" I agree looking down

"What are you talking about?" Newt asks

"This place, it's not what we thought it was, it's not a prison, it's a test, it all started when we were kids, they'd give us these challenges, they were experimenting on us and then people started disappearing, every month, one after the other like clock work" I explain

"Sending them up into the maze" Newt realises

"Yeah but not all of us" I reply

"What'd you mean?" Newt asks

"Guys i'm one of them" I admit

"The people who put you here, i worked with them" I say

"I mean i watched you guys, the whole time you were here, i was on the other side of it"

"So was Teresa, i mean we did this to you guys" I look back to Minho

"We know" Thomas looks down

"What?" I question confused

"Last night, before you stung yourself, you said that you worked for them and this is all your fault, but it's not Astrid, i promise" Thomas explains

"But it is? I mean look around Thomas, ever since i got here a whole bunch of gladers have died" I say

"No, it doesn't matter" Minho says

"He's right, it doesn't matter" Newt agrees with Minho

"Any of it, because the people we were before the maze, they don't even exist anymore, these creators took care of that, what does matter is who we are now and what he do right now" He continues
