Aemma and her brothers had been at the dragon pit when they were informed there mother had begun her labours. Impeccable timing, she thought. Aemma had completely refused any instructions to leave her mothers bedside and so, with much reluctance and reassurance her mother would not birth her new sibling until Aemma had returned, Aemma had ultimately ended up in the dragon pit.

Alas, the gods do not always listen to our hopes and pleas and by the time Aemma had raced through the castle, not so politely barging through the growing crowd of lords and lady's, Rhaenyra had already left.

Aemma stood in her mothers compartment, taken aback by the eerie silence, bar her heavy breathes and pounding heart. Each breathe curling in her throat as she stood stationary in the chambers.

The moment only lasted mere seconds before her brothers caught up as well as Ser Harwin.

"If given the chance may I say that Her Grace has requested the presence of the babe, your mother took it upon herself to bring him there" Ser Harwin spoke first.

Aemma was many things. Blind not one. She had seen the faces of judgement, even distaste from the Queen. Though her mother never bothered to enlighten her on the reasons Queen Alicent had a scowl plastered across her face the moment Aemma and her brothers stepped into a room, the most amount of insight she ever received was King Viserys comparing the friendship between the Princess's Aemma and Helaena to Rhaenyra and Alicent, mumbling something about a dispute of kinds.

Viserys had always loved his grandchildren -perhaps even more than his own children- but the love he bore Aemma was a different kind of love. Grief and guilt struck love. Aemma could see it written in the creases of his soft smile or in the iris of his eye as she read to him. He missed his wife. His first wife. Aemma knew it to be true, evidently so because she had been told of her resemblance in character to the Late Queen Aemma her whole life.

Aemma was so lost in thought she almost missed the pronoun Harwin used to regard the babe. Almost.

"A boy?" Jacaerys asked spinning in his feet to face the lord commander.

"Yes, lad"

A warm smile found its way on Aemma's face, though she would love this new brother as much as she already loved Jace and Luke, she had always wished for a sister. Aemma found only few girls to take as companions, even then she did not truly appreciate their company.

The only exception to that being Helaena, Aemma had found true friendship within Helaena. Though the girls were quite the difference, their bond was irreparable. King Viserys persisted that the princes shall make lifelong bonds training together however while the princes only ever fell further apart into a hole of cruel jests and competitive duelling, Viserys had unknowingly forced the blossoming of the friendship between Helaena and Aemma. From the eyes of the court it was an interesting relationship indeed, however there was one common underlying fact that brought the princesses closer. Dreams.

A giggle had escaped Aemma as she watched Jacaerys entertain Luke. A dance of dragons Jace called it, he made for quite the entertainment. He held two wooden dragons. She watched as her brother held the smaller figure in the air with the much larger dragon chasing behind it. Shouts and shrieks left the boys mouth as Jacaerys painted the picture of a real dragon battle.

Though Aemma couldn't help but feel the tinge of jealousy hit her chest. Aemma was yet to hatch or claim a dragon, she did not wish to dwell on the ground forever. Aemma had kept the three eggs that she had been gifted over the years. They sat perfectly still in a crate at the foot of her bed. No one knew her reasons for insisting that the eggs remain there -not even Aemma knew.

She turned her head to look at the case currently incubating her now youngest brothers egg, watching as steam seeped from the case. She had prayed and will continue to do so, asking the gods that they allow a dragon to hatch, that at least her brothers may understand the feeling that she is yet to discover. A feeling that cannot be described, nor put into words but can only remain an unsaid common understanding between dragon riders.

Though Aemma was torn from her thoughts as the chamber doors opened.
