For the next few days Percy and I ended up having a routine and it started from learning Ancient Greek from Annabeth, and it was good until she hit my ribs waking me up, and after we rotate looking for what Percy and I were good at. Chiron taught archery and I was okay at it but Percy was almost hit Chiron. Next was Foot racing with a wood-nymph and I was faster than Percy which isn't saying much since he was pretty slow. Next was wrestling and watching Percy getting pulverize was somewhat funny, but I took her down a few times and sometimes I get to cocky and she took me down a few times and right now we're tied. At least Percy is better than me at something and its canoeing which I cannot do at all, but each time Percy and I keep doing this stuff I always felt eyes on me.
Now we were sword fighting after three days at being at camp and Luke was teaching us the basics with stabbing and slashing then we moved into pairs Percy was with Luke where I was with someone I didn't know. As we fought I was getting my ass kicked then Luke called a break dropping the shield I was breathing heavily as I grabbed some water to gulping it down, and I looked towards the guy who I was against and he was talking to one of his friends making fun of me.
"Okay, everybody circle up!" Luke ordered. "If Percy doesn't mind, I want to give you a little demo." It was how to disarm someone. "This is difficult, I've had it used against me. No laughing at Percy, now. Most swordsmen have to work years to master this technique." Luke then demonstrated the technique slowly showing us how it was done. "Now in real time." He said after Percy got his weapon. "We keep sparring until one of us pulls it off. Ready, Percy?" Percy nodded then Luke went after Percy and as I watched I saw Percy seemed to be holding his own, but he was getting slower until I saw him try the technique Luke showed us and Luke's sword hit the ground. Everyone was silent as Percy lowered his sword. "Um, sorry." Percy spoke and Luke took a few more seconds before breaking into a grin. "Sorry? By the gods, Percy, why are you sorry? Show me that again!" Luke said but it didn't go the same as Percy's sword hit the ground. "Beginners luck?" The guy I faced said. "Maybe. But I wonder what Percy could do with a balanced sword..."
Sitting in the grass in the shade I was tired and pissed at the guy I had to use a shield and sword but noticed I felt much better with the spear in my hand... Ava flew by before landing on my leg, and I petted her head. "Have you found any trace of that man from my home?" She shook her head as I sighed before hearing a voice. "What are you doing?" Looking over at Clarisse she walked over. "Thinking on something's." I replied. "And what are these things?" She sat beside me and over the few days we gotten closer which was strange, but I didn't mind it. "How many ways I can kick your ass." Feeling her hand on my head she was squeezing it. "Then lets go right here and now." She said as Ava flew off. "I'm sorry, Ava told me to say it." I quickly said before she split my head open. "Really a bird told you?" "Would you believe me if I said I can talk to Ava?" I asked. "Nope, now come on lets spar." She then dragged me away for a spar and that's how I spent most of the Friday.
After dinner their was more excitement than usual then Annabeth ran with two of her siblings holding a banner, and it had a barn owl above an olive tree and it glistening gray. Clarisse ran in with two of her friends and had another banner, this time it was red and a spear and a boar's head. "Are those the flags?" I asked Luke as Percy listened in. "Yeah." Luke answered. "Are Ares and Athena always lead the teams?" Percy asked. "Not always, but often." Luke said. "So, if another cabin captures one, what do you do-- repaint the flag?" I laughed a bit before Luke answered. "You'll see. First we have to get one." "Who's side are we on?" I asked as Luke smiled "We've made a temporary alliance with Athena. Tonight, we get the flag from Ares, and you are going to help."
When it was announced Athena had made an alliance with Apollo and Hermes which were the biggest cabins, but Ares got everyone else like Dionysus, Demeter, Aphrodite, and Hephaestus. "Heroes! You know the rules. The creek is the boundary line. The entire forest is fair game. All magic items are allowed. The banner must be prominently displayed, and have no more than two guards. Prisoners may be disarmed, but may not be bound or gagged. No killing or maiming is allowed. I will serve as referee and battlefield medic. Arm yourselves!" As Chiron spread his arms the tables were covered in equipment. "Whoa, we're really supposed to use these?" Percy asked and Luke looked at him like he was crazy. "Unless you want to get skewered by your friends in cabin five. Here Chiron thought these would fit. You'll be on border portal with Y/N."
