Blew Up A Bus

I was packed quick as all I took with me was a toothbrush, toothpaste, a change of clothes. The spear wrapped around my wrist, and thank the gods I wasn't wearing that orange shirt it was very uncomfortable.

The camp store loaned me a hundred dollar bill and twenty golden drachmas, and the drachmas where as big as some cookies my step dad used to get. Then Chiron gave Percy, Annabeth, and I a canteen of nectar and a Ziploc bag full of ambrosia squares, unfortunately they were emergency only or else we would get very feverish. An overdose would burn us up, literally.

Waving goodbye to the other campers we walked towards the tall pine tree which used to be Thalia who was my half sister. Chiron was in his chair and next to him was Argus, and what Grover told Percy and I he was the camp's security also had eyes all over his body.

"This is Argus." Chiron said. "He will drive you into the city, and, er, well keep an eye on things." Hearing footsteps behind us I turned seeing Luke running towards us holding some shoes. "Hey!" He panted. "Glad I caught you." Annabeth blushed. "Just wanted to say good luck, and I thought... Um, maybe you could use these." He handed me the pair of shoes which looked normal. "Maia!" Luke said and the shoes I was holding sprouted wings. "Oh... Cool." Seeing the shoes fly around until it went back into normal shoes. "Awesome!" Grover said and Luke smiled. "Those served me well when I was on my quest. Gift from dad. Of  course, I don't use them much these days..." Luke's expression turned sad. "Well, thanks Luke. I appreciate it." I said as he turned to Percy. "Listen, Percy... A lot of hopes are riding on you. So just... Kill some monsters for me, okay?" Luke shook hands with Percy and I, with Grover he patted his head and Annabeth got a hug and I was afraid she might pass out right here.

While Percy and Annabeth talked a bit I walked to Grover and handed him the shoes. "Here you go Grover." "Me? What about you?" He asked. "I can teleport with my spear, and I rather not try multitask flying and how I fight." He smiled and nodded his head and I helped getting the sneaks on and he got ready to fly.

"Maia!" He shouted and he was off the ground for a few seconds before falling sideways and his backpack was dragged through the grass, but the shoes kept going.

"Hey, Chiron I've got you a lawnmower." Chiron had a slight smile before calling out to Grover. "You just need practice!" Thankfully Grover gave a response. "Aaaaa!" "At least he's heading for the van."

Getting to the van I saw Percy talking with Chiron until he got to us and seeing Chiron he held up his bow high in salute.

In the car Argus drove us out of the countryside and into the western long island and after some time Percy spoke up. "So far so good. Ten miles and not a single monster." "That's gonna bite us in the end." I closed my eyes while Annabeth and Percy talked about olives and pizza until we finally reached the greyhound station. Argus unloaded our bags and bought us our bus tickets before driving away. Being in the city was strange, but I kept my eyes open not only for monsters but the person who broke into my house and killed my step dad.

"Why are you looking around so much?" Annabeth asked. "Just a bit jumpy." She stared at me before waiting again, but then I heard a familiar eagle. Ava flew close by before landing on my bracelet that I held out. "I thought I asked you to stay behind." She tried to look innocent as I petted her. "Aw who could stay mad at you, but you need to stay in the air. I can't take you on the bus." She nodded as she rested on my are as the rain was still coming down, so I turned and saw the three looking at me.

"What?" "Nothing." Percy said.

The three got restless waiting for the bus and started to play Hacky Sack with one of Grover's apples, and they asked if I wanted to join but declined as I watched them play. Annabeth was really good, Percy  wasn't too bad. And the game ended when Percy hit the apple close to Grover's mouth which he ate the apple whole, the core and stem included. We laughed as Grover tried to apologize and finally the bus showed up. As we waited in line Ava flew off as I noticed the rain seemed to avoid her, and I wonder why she wasn't wet when she showed up.
