I was over at Mason's house, bored with nothing to do. I wanted to pull a prank, I thought it would be harmless fun, you know? A little prank to spice things up.

I pretended that someone from set was hitting on me. I received a notification at the perfect time and giggled to gain his attention.

He looks up from his phone and giggles too, "are you watching that video I sent you?"

I didn't answer and kept on smiling while texting.

Mason was getting all curious , " hello?"

"Oh yeah um, just a sec" i started typing even faster and then started talking without taking my eyes off the phone.

"you won't believe this, one of the crew members on set was hitting on me, and it was so hilariously awkward. He was trying his best to be smooth, It was kind of funny, actually. He was trying so hard to be charming,"

I laughed, but added a sentence I know would bother him, "but it was just cute in a way, you know?"

" what do you mean cute ? And why were you all giggly just now ? Is that jerk texting you ?"

Mason scoffs and stands up to approach me, "who? is it Tyler ?" He tries to take a peak at my phone but I back off a bit.

I turn off my phone, " I mean , yea I guess he keeps sending flirtatious texts and trying to arrange a meeting." I shrug.

As soon as I dropped the bomb, Mason's demeanor changed completely. He went from relaxed to tense in seconds. His face clouded with a mix of disbelief, anger, and insecurity. At first, I thought he was playing along, pretending to be jealous for the sake of the prank. But the intensity in his eyes told a different story.

"What? How long has this been going on ?"

"Um a month I think?" I take my eyes off the phone and look at him in a thinking face.

He raises his eyebrows and scoffs,

"Why didn't you shut it down immediately? You're making that guy think he has a chance, are you serious right now? Why do you keep texting him?"

I could see the jealousy bubbling beneath the surface, his possessiveness coming out in full force. It was like he couldn't fathom the idea of someone else even remotely interested in me.

" Mason ugh, i mean it's simply rude not to text back, he's so nice and he's my coworker, i don't want to make things awkward by ghosting him or something !"

Mason's reaction was immediate and intense. He clenched his jaw, his eyes narrowing in disbelief.

"Are you for real right now?" he exclaimed, his voice tinged with a mix of anger and hurt.

"Bro, chill" i say standing up, unplugging my charger, to try and make him understand I'm trying to leave..

" Seriously? 'Bro'? Do I look like one of your buddies? I'm not just some dude. Can't you see that? And chill? I should chill?"

I could see this was getting pretty serious.

"You think it's okay to text back some guy who's clearly flirting with you? That's not just professional courtesy, that's crossing a line!" He yells, throwing his hands in the air.

The tension in the room was palpable as Mason struggled to contain his emotions. He paced back and forth, his hands running through his hair in frustration.

"I can't believe you'd even consider this okay," he muttered, his voice low but filled with intensity. "To me, that's a form of cheating, and I won't stand for it."he adds.

My expression softened as i realized the gravity of the situation.

"Mason, I didn't mean to upset you," I said gently, reaching out to touch his arm, trying to find a way to tell him it was just a prank,I seriously regret doing..

Mason took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down.

"I just don't want anything or anyone coming between us," he admitted, his voice softer now

"I care about you a lot, and I want us to be on the same page about these things." He adds

I nodded, my eyes reflecting sincerity.

"mason i.. IT WAS A PRANK im so sorry oh my god I didnt know it would go that far !!" I say and hide my face with my hands as I run to his arm so I don't face his disappointment face.

But instead I feel his tense body relax to the news and his arms slowly hug back.

I felt bad .. "Compared to you, no one else stands a chance, alright?" I say.

"Fuck y/n, I'll get my revenge on you one day, we'll see how you like a taste of your medicine huh?" He says and i giggle and hug him tighter
