I watched with amusement as the satyr kneeled down into the snow, mumbling and stumbling over his words as my mother and I stood before him.

The black haired girl, Thalia, yelled at him to get up, practically grabbing him by his shirt and forcing him to stand.

I remember her very well, she refused to join my mother and the hunters over some boy, even when my other mother warned her that he would betray her, it's ironic really, he really betrayed her.

"Whoa," Bianca di Angelo said. "Hold up. Time out." We all looked at her, she seems like a really nice girl, pretty too, I hope she joins the hunters.

She pointed her finger at all of us in turn, like she was trying to connect the dots. "Who… who are you people?"

My mothers expression softened as she looked at her.

"It might be a better question, my dear girl, to ask who you are! Who are your parents?" Bianca glanced nervously at her brother, who was still staring in awe at me and my mother, he looks so adorable!

"Our parents are dead," Bianca said. "We're orphans. There's a bank trust that pays for our school, but…" She faltered. I guess she could tell from our faces that we didn't really believe her.

"What?" she demanded, getting a bit annoyed. "I'm telling the truth."

"You are a half-blood," Zoe Nightshade said. Her accent was hard to place. It sounded old-fashioned, like she was reading from a really old book. "One of thy parents was mortal. The other was an Olympian."

"An Olympian… athlete?" Bianca asked, completely confused.

"No," mom said, crossing her arms. "One of the gods."
