When you wake up about four hours after you'd initially fallen asleep, you stir and cling to Francis as if you were in your last moments or a baby clinging to its new mother.
"Afternoon, kleine maus. You slept for quite a while... Were you really that tired?" he asks, running a hand gently through your hair to soothe you.
"I guess I was..." you respond simply, looking up into his eyes with a gentle smile.
"Well, eine könig, let me tell you something you may not know." Francis says, pausing to build anticipation. "Today," he pauses again, "You missed your work day."
"Oh, shit," you sigh, grabbing at your hair and pulling it back from its entangled, unkept state. "I didn't mean to sleep so long.. You should've woke me up!"
"It's okay, kleine maus..." he reassures, running one of his soft hands straight through your hair to soothe your nerves. "You can apologize to Henry later."
"But, what if he passed out on the job and let dopplegängers in? What if he's dead because I wasn't there? What if-"
Noticing your uneasiness, he quickly plants his lips to yours to make you stop talking. "Hush, eine könig..." Francis soothes, a gentle smile curving against your lips as his is still against yours. "It'll be okay. If he did let in any dopplegängers, I guess we'll just have to go out together, huh?" he teases, slowly leaning away from you.
"Wh- but, but-" you protest, stammering from your embarrassment. "Did you just kiss me?"
"Yeah... So what? You liked it... I felt you lean into it," he teases again, smirking before kissing you once more.
"Not wrong..." you admit, a coy smile appearing on your face. "But still. I wasn't expecting it!"
"You were rambling." he argues plainly, his eyes narrowing at you. The bored look he's giving you causes you to cower.
"Sorry."
"Don't apologize, kleine maus... I thought it was cute." Francis says, planting another gentle kiss upon your waiting lips.
"But-" you protest, but he kisses you.
"But nothing. You're all worked-up over nothing, love." Francis says, nuzzling his face deeply into your neck to inhale your scent. "Hmm.. Citrus." he hums contentedly.
"Citrus?" you ask quizzically, "What's citrus?"
"Your smell. It's citrus." Francis replies, his lips placed against the crook of your neck, pulling you tight against his chest. "And I like citrus."
"You like me, silly."
"That's no lie." he admits quietly, placing a gentle but firm kiss to your neck.
'I knew it.' You think to yourself, a smile creeping onto your flush, red lips. 'He likes me.'
"Would you like to go see Henry?" Francis whispers in your ear, his warm breath tickling your neck.
"And get out of bed? No way..."
"Got it. But, we'll need to see him eventually." he sighs, laying down with you yet again, preparing to nap yet again, "We can't just cuddle and sleep all day. Besides, I have to deliver milk tonight anyway..."
"Awe man... Fine. One more hour." you whine, but finally agree with him, laying down in a spooning position.
"Goodnight... Again. Sleep well kleine maus."
