SHYANNE SAMUELS
Café El Centro|Kgn
Sunday⭐︎⭐︎⭐︎
It's a sunny Sunday afternoon, and I'm out for lunch with Marcus, my boss's son.
The café is nice enough, with the scent of coffee and fresh-baked pastries floating in the air, but I can't help but notice how pristine and perfect everything is. Just like Marcus.
He's sitting across from me, talking animatedly about his latest engineering project—something about solar panels and saving the planet. It's clear he's passionate, and that's cute and all, but I've always preferred a man who's a little less... polished.
Him too stush fi me and me barely a listen to anything wah him a say. Me nuh business bout him and him engineer world.
I glance outside at his silver Porsche parked right up front, not a speck of dust on it.
Mi nah go lie, the car nice, but mi cyaa help but wonder if him woulda cry if waah bird shit pon the windshield.
Me feel him woulda bawl. He seems like that type of guy.
"So, Shyanne," Marcus says, bringing me back into the conversation, "I can see why my parents love having you at the office. My dad always says he couldn't manage without you."
I know that's right! Him need fi raise me pay now cause me a consider sell front.
I smile at him, taking a sip of my iced coffee. "I'm glad to hear that, Marcus. Your father trusts me a lot, and mi tek care an everything fi him."
And he's not weird and perverted either.
"Yeah, he says you're basically the glue that holds the place together," Marcus adds, with a little too much seriousness.
I can tell he's trying hard to impress me, and while I appreciate it, there's something almost too perfect about him. I mean, even his hair looks like it's never seen a strong breeze.
Him look gay. Oh my goodness, let me stop, that was so rude.
I give him a playful smile, leaning in just a little. "Yuh a try fi charm mi now, Marcus?"
He laughs, a bit too eagerly. "Maybe. Is it working?"
No!
I chuckle lightly, but my thoughts are on something else.
Charm mi? Bwoy, yuh nuh know mi. If yuh waah charm mi, yuh haffi bring some vibes, not jus talk 'bout the environment and how yuh saving the planet.
Make me see the gun a print out inah yuh waist and them thing deh.
Marcus leans back in his chair, clearly feeling more comfortable. "So, what do you do for fun, Shyanne?"
"I like adventures, y'know. Sometimes I go out with my friends, or mi just tek a day fi myself and go find my niece anywhere she is and spend the day with her. Life too short fi nuh have fun," I say, throwing in a wink.
