When you open your eyes to the sight of familiar flashing red lights and boiler room walls, you internally panic a bit. You haven't seen the creepy killer named Freddy since you worked at the Sanitarium so suddenly being back in his weird domain is surprising. After moving, you never expected to see the dream demon again yet here you are.
Accepting your potential fate, you begin to walk around, attempting to locate the demon in his maze of boilers. You ignore every door you pass by as you know that there's nothing good behind them. The others explained to you all about Freddy shortly after the second attack so you know all of his tricks and such.
It doesn't take long for him to finally make his appearance. His shadow stretches across the wall in a long dark arch. Following it's outline, you turn to look towards the end of the hallway where you know he's likely hiding around the corner waiting for you to get scared.
"Are you going to come out?" You question in a bored tone, knowing that Freddy thrives off of making his victims scared.
There's a beat of silence before he comes around the corner, a smile plastered on his face despite his obvious annoyance. "I've been searching for you, bitch."
"What for?" You had hoped he would give up on killing you once you disappeared but apparently not.
"You survived." He hisses angrily, his fake smile dropping into a sneer. "I failed at killing you twice, but I won't fail a third time, bitch." He lifts his gloved hand as he waves the blades in a threatening manner.
"Why do you even want me dead so badly?! Aren't you more interesting in killing teenagers or some shit?" You throw your hands up in slight exasperation.
"Would you really like to know?" He taunts. The second you say yes he slashes angrily at the wall next to him. "It's because that mama's boy bitch cares about you!"
It takes a second for what he said to register in your mind. "Do you mean Jason?"
"That asshole." Freddy growls in displeasure, and it seems he's momentarily forgotten about you as he begins mumbling nonsense. You hear a few curse words along with 'momma's boy' within his muttering but choose against questioning him further. If anything, you could always ask Jason about it even though he'd end up feeling like it's completely his fault that you were almost killed.
Not wanting to stand around listening to him talk to himself, you turn away and start walking away in order to find a way to wake yourself up. You don't want to lose out on sleep but you also don't want to be stuck in a nightmare with the dream demon who is currently losing his shit.
After a while you come to a dead end where your only choice is to go through the one door that's there. Glancing behind you, you check to make sure Freddy hasn't snuck up on you before turning back to the door and slowly opening it. You're expecting something fear inducing to be behind it; spiders, a cliff leading to a bottomless pit, or even the depths of the ocean. What you're not expecting is what's actually there.
Stepping through the door, you're met with your sister's home- the very one you're currently living in. At first glance it's easy to tell that it's exactly as she had it. All of her decorations and pictures litter the entire place, most of which you took down and stored when you moved in.
Cautiously, you begin to make your way through the house, searching for anything that may be different or out of place. Everything seems eerily silent so it's extremely surprising when you walk out the back door and spot your sister standing far off in the tree line.
"Jennie?" You mutter her name in confusion, wondering if it's actually her you're looking at. When she turns and suddenly walks further into the woods, you yell her name before taking off after her.
Despite running as fast as you can, you can't keep up with her walking pace. Every time you think you're getting closer to her, the further she ends up being. At some point during the chase you lose sight of her completely and have no choice but to stumble through the woods with no sense of which way to go.
The further you venture the more lost you become. There's no trail to follow, and at this point you've lost any idea of which way you came from. Every single tree, bush, or rock looks the exact same as each other and at this point you believe you've just been going in circles.
It feels like hours pass by before you finally stumble upon something new.
Your steps slowly come to a stop as you lay eyes on old torn up police tape dangling from tree trunks and stuck in bushes. Your heart hammers heavily in your chest, tears already beginning to well up in your eyes as you cautiously step past the torn strips of tape. Almost instantly a sob wracks through your body as you fall to your knees.
Laying on the ground surrounded by blood and bits of herself is your sister. Despite her head being completely smashed in, you know it's her. When she died all those years ago, it was because she was brutally murdered in the woods behind her home. Somebody beat her to death with an unknown object and the police were only able to identify her through her fingerprints.
This is the first time you've seen her like this. Once the investigation was closed due to lack of evidence and no suspects, her body was released back to your family where she was cremated. The thought of putting her in the ground as she was sickened your family, and you all came to the agreement that cremating her would be the best option.
Squeezing your eyes shut, you try your best to push the image of her deceased body from your mind. It doesn't work well as you begin dry heaving, gagging on nothing as you struggle to breathe both from the feeling of being on the verge of throwing up and from sobbing heavily.
"Why weren't you there?" Your sisters voice comes from behind you, making you squeeze your eyes shut even tighter.
"Shut up." You groan, knowing it's not really her.
"You were supposed to be there with me. It's your fault this happened to me." Her voice comes from in front of you this time and you know she's standing over her own dead body.
You don't know how Freddy knows that you were supposed to visit your sister the day that she passed. For years you've regretted cancelling on her but it was out of your control. You were in college at the time and your professor surprised you all with a ten page essay. She was extremely understanding of your reasoning even though she herself never went to college due to being busy with her films.
"I would still be alive if it weren't for you." This time her voice is right next to your ear, practically laced with malice and hate.
"Stop!" You swing your arm blindly towards her only to feel nothing. "Stop pretending to be her you jackass! She wouldn't blame me!"
"Are you sure?" Freddy taunts, and when you open your eyes you find yourself back in the boiler room.
"Screw you." You growl, slowly standing up despite having no energy. "You can attempt to kill me all you want, but don't you dare ever put words in my sisters mouth when you know nothing about her."
Freddy lunges for you, and instead of moving out of the way you hold open your arms, fully ready to accept your own death. Instead the sight of Freddy reaching for you disappears as you wake up to the sound of your alarm. Laying in bed, you stare up at the ceiling in disappointment, tears streaming down your cheeks as you watch the dream reply over and over in your mind.
You wish he would've succeeded in killing you this time so you could see your sister again, knowing that she would be happy to see you and not blame you for her death at all.
