Gay-away camp took three days. The days with no news from Ashwood. The little camp in Maine said no phone calls or text or Internet. No new notes, no calls and plans, and no news on Hailey. I take a plane back to re airport in Ashwood and my parents pick me up and take me to the motel where we are staying. After being asked questions and still getting dirty looks for my sins I decide to go to the house.
••
It's like my past was burned. My favorite childhood memories turned to ashes. Who would have burned my home down. After walking around the property I notice a lighter and a wallet near the woods. They are both engraved T.R. I know who that is. Tasha Riggs.
••
I drive over to Julia's house and pound the door. Tasha answers. She ask me "what do you want?" I answer by punching her in the face. "YOU SET MY HOME ON FIRE! YOU BITCH!" I jump on top of her and start beating him. Punching, biting, scratching. After awhile I let up and she gets up covered in blood and ask me to calmly leave. "Go back to your motel bitch. I'll enjoy you money"
••
Later that night I get a call. It's an unknown number. I answer. "Hello. Is this Emma? It's Julia Marshall. Don't hang up please. Yes, Tasha and I robbed your house. But we never meant to set your house on fire. We needed money and quick. I'm sorry. I'm sorry about your home. Really I am." With that she hung up. Did Julia and Tasha really just admit to the crime?
••
By this time I have been filled in on everything. Maggie and her pictures and her phone calls. We have a plan for the charity country club party tonight. Maggie will be caught.
