Chapter 43: Russia

As dawn broke over the horizon, Chuuya and Fyo descended from the mountain laboratory they had infiltrated under the cover of night. The first rays of sunlight painted the sky in hues of pink and gold, casting a warm glow over the rugged landscape below.

As the darkness faded, they made their way down the mountainside, they had to journey to the nearest town on foot to avoid the many spies around.

As Chuuya and Fyo trudged through the snow-covered forest, their feet sinking half a foot into the cold, white blanket beneath them, Chuuya couldn't help but regret not bringing more clothes to combat the chill. He grumbled and complained about the biting cold, his breath visible in the frigid air. Then all of a sudden a lump of snow at the back of his head.

The sudden impact startled Chuuya, and he turned to see Fyo grinning mischievously. "What do you want punk" Chuuya stated a bit annoyed.

'Smack'

Chuuya receives a ball of snow in his face as a response.

"Why you!!!"

Chuuya was about to use his ability, bringing snow in the air to launch at the tall guy when ...

"Come on Chibi ...what's the fun in using your ability? Why not use your hand to stay warm?" With another launch of snowball on Chuuya's face Fyo was about to take another lump of snow on the ground.

Seeing this and feeling a bit embarrassed by his own complaints earlier, Chuuya scooped up some snow and retaliated, starting an impromptu snowball fight in the middle of the snowy forest. The cold air echoed with a roar of frustration from a redhead and laughter from the tall guy as they dodged and threw snowballs at each other, momentarily forgetting the seriousness of their mission in the midst of the wintry fun.

After a while with a stroke of loss without the use of his ability Chuuya caught his breath his back against a tree, with a little frustration in him. It's just Fyo just knew where to hide and where to strike leaving him with many snowballs thrown at him. Truth to Fyo's words he did feel warmer.

After their small snow war, they also saw some critters and small animals as they walked in the snow. That Chuuya never have expected to see them in their dwellings. They even saw a deer and stags up close and Chuuya got to marvel at their huge antlers, there's also snow-white foxes feeding in his hand as Fyo handed him some crackers. And they also saw some bears from afar searching for food. Large cats running around as they walked by and the gaze of owls from the trees.

Chuuya and Fyo continued their walk and then stumbled upon a tranquil lake, its surface shimmering in the soft morning light. Peering into the crystal-clear water, Chuuya spotted several fish swimming gracefully beneath the surface. Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined himself that he could see them up close as all his life he had been walking side by side with violence and danger.

As Chuuya was engrossed to the peace and tranquility of the white forest he heard Fyo call on him. "Let's go?" asked Fyo with a soft smile on his face while brushing off some snot in Chuuya's hat and shoulder..
