Crushing The Enemy

Chapter 9-Lost importance

2 months went by, constant spying on the inside on as part of finding any and everything she could to help Raine.   

Her efforts were starting to go in vain because she got less and less information every time, then eventually nothing useful and it made her feel bad.  The Coven Day parade was only a month away, and for some reason, it seemed other coven heads were always around her. 

However her nights were the same, she'd meet Raine on her balcony and they'd see what they could accomplish together with not-so-mild flirting.  They were watching as wild witches were being escorted out of the city.  A small glance at each other, a mutual loving gaze.  Eda looked down smiling to herself, while Raine continued to stare at the ginger-haired woman.   "Raine.. You.. Make me so happy" she muttered.  They blushed, pulling her a little closer.  "And I'm so grateful I can make you happy.. "  they whispered.  

"Oooooo!!! The love birds!!" Amber beamed, waving up at Eda and Raine. Both adults chuckled and waved back.  "Are you guys gonna kiss!?" Amber asked, yelling at the adults.  Eda rolled her eyes and gently pushed them away from embarrassment.  "Why don't you head home, darling?" Raine suggested. "Alright, il see you Tomorrow" Eda replied and gave them a quick kiss on the cheek before leaving. 

Now her world was crashing down in front of her.  Tears forming in her eyes, as she slowly asked. "W-what.."   Raine  Standing in front of her, unable to even match her gaze.. As they repeated. "I'm sorry Eda.. But I.. Don't love you anymore" Eda bit her lip to not whimper. "W-was it something I did?.. If it is.. I'm sorry" Eda took a step towards them, reaching her hand out, which they stopped. "I'm sorry Eda.. It's over"  they said in a quiet tone.  Tears started to fall down her cheeks, as she backed away slowly. "O-okay.. If.. That's what you want" she replied, and turned away quickly, leaving. 

The rustling behind them let them know they were watched as she sighed, tears falling down their own cheeks.

Eda got back to the castle, trying to clear her face desperately.  She closed her curtains in case Odalia was recording her again.  She sat on her bed, silently sobbing, and at the worst possible time, she heard someone knocking on her door. "What!?" She yelled, trying to hide her quivering voice. "Edalyn? Are you alright?"  Eda wiped her eyes again. "Yes!! Get off my back okay!? Shit.. " Eda yelled.     She felt bad yelling at her sister like that, then sighed. "Sorry..i-i just uhm.. Hurt myself, that's all"  eda replied, correcting herself.   "Eda.. I know you'll be alright..healing takes time" Lilith said through the door.  Eda slowly laid down. "Can.. I just.. Be alone?" Eda asked, hoping her sister would hear her.  "Of course.. Goodnight"  Lilith replied.

Eda wasn't good at goodbyes.. Even if she pretended to be.  Her head often didn't hang as high as her usual ego usually propped it up. She followed orders, did what she was told and would disappear. Lilith and darius would often be looking for her to figure out what was happening. "So first she's overly affectionate, now we can never find her? The fuck kinda sense is that?" Darius asked, cocking his hip, annoyed at edas actions.  "Please.. Be more empathetic darius,  she's hurting.. Her partner left her" Lilith explained.  "How do you know that?" Darius asked.  

Lilith averted her gaze, tucking her hair behind her ear. "She told me, she tells me everything"  Lilith replied with a hint of smugness in her tone. Darius didn't disagree, eda did usually tell her everything. "True. Anyways, I need to go" Darius replied, once seeing eberwolf near.  "Alright, il see if I can find my sister"  Lilith said, while going in a separate way. Darius joined eberwolf in a private room full of maps, and pictures of hooded figures, the emeror, and eda. "Find anything new, eber?"  Darius asked. Eberwolf nodded their head, climbed on the table pointing to the hooded figure making noises. "Who is that? Someone else. Working on a resistance?" Darius asked.   Eber shrugged, making Darius sigh and roll his eyes.   "Well find out, and maybe we should find out who eda is working with" Darius stated, before leaving.

Lilith However, was drinking tea with eda, in an attempt not make her feel better.  Both of them were giggling from a horribly terrible joke Lilith told. "Lily that was so bad" eda chuckled, taking a sip of the tea she was given.   Lilith sighed, "edalyn, whatever your going through, I want you to know il always be there for you" Lilith said with a kind smile. "I know, and that why your my favorite sister" eda teased, giving her a small wink.  Lilith chuckled. "I'm your only sister, eda" Lilith remarked.  Kikimora walked up to eda. "The emeror requested hour presence, and it's urgent"  eda sighed and took another sip of tea. "Alright kiki, il be right there" eda said while getting up.

Eda eda left, Lilith put her tea cup down, lowering her head. "It's for her own good"   Lilith told herself.
