A\N: As I'm writing this I'm tipsy as hell. But this is slightly an AU. There is hardly any dialog in this one and it's past tense, I hope you Angels enjoy this one. By the way I have no idea how long or where the tile came from but it is what it is but this is one of my happier Willicia stories, enjoy Angels.

She asked Peter for divorce the day Will got shot by Jeffery Grant. She said it was because he had had hurt her one too many times for it to work between them like it once did, but they both knew it was because she loved Will, she always had, it had just took him being shot to make her realise it. Peter just nodded his head, kissed her one last time and drove her to the hospital to stay with Diane and Kalinda, to stay with Will. She removed her engagement and wedding rings, she handed them to him with a sad smile. Peter clasped the rings she had worn for the past 20 years and told her he'd get the press away, that he'd take the kids with him for however long she needed to be with Will, that he'd tell Cary what happened so she could focus on Will and Will alone.
She let the tears roll down her face when the doctor told her, Diane and Kalinda that Will survived the surgery. She was at his side when he came out of surgery looking unlike the Will she knew and loved. She held his hand as he woke up a week after he was shot 3 times. She laughed, cried and sobbed when he said 'Leesh, tell Leesh, she's the one, always been the one' as he was waking up from the medically induced coma he was placed in. She smiled when he came home with her to her apartment, greeted by Zach, Grace, Diane, Cary and Kalinda. She let him have his space when physical therapy wasn't going the way he wanted. She cuddled into his side when they watched movies on the couch when Zach and Grace were at their dads. She cried and shook her head vehemently when he said he was going to work six months after the shooting. She slammed her bedroom door when he yelled at her that it was his decision and not hers when he decided when he wanted to go back to work. She admitted to him that she was afraid to lose him every time she took her eyes off him after he had entered her bedroom an hour after she had walked away from him.
She cheered along with the rest of their two firms when he stepped out of the elevator at Lockhart/Gardner. She had kissed him for the first time in 2 years in front of everyone when he gave a speech and thanked her for being by his side as he recovered and for being the first person he saw when he woke up. She wrapped her arms around his waist when they heard Zach and Grace talking about them, and how happy they were that she was happy with Will, and they weren't angry with her for divorcing Peter the day Will was shot.
She scoffed and rolled her eyes at his side when Diane and Cary brought up the possibility of merging their firms while the four of them were at lunch. She sipped wine beside him when their firms merged, becoming Lockhart/Gardner/Cavanaugh/Agos and Associates. She laughed when he pulled her in his arms and danced with her at their big opening party. She laid her head on his chest, heart the steady thumping of his heartbeat in her ear when she woke up from dreams about him not making it. She held his hand as they walked towards the car at the end of the night. She mouthed 'I'm proud of you' to him when she slinked into the courtroom to watch him kick ass for the first time in seven months. She hugged him close in the middle of the courthouse when he had a panic attack. She didn't leave his side at his doctors appointments. She said 'I love you' aloud to him for the first time in 20 years in front of Zach, Grace, Peter, Owen, Veronica, Jackie, Diane, Kurt, Cary and Kalinda. She teared up when he said it back and kissed her chastely. She smiled widely when Zach and Grace hugged him goodnight and good morning. She cried when she heard Will call Zach 'son' and turned up at Grace's volleyball game and cheered her on. She jumped into his arms and was spun around when he won his first basketball game after he was shot.
She hopped onto his back when they went to DC and took Zach, Grace, Diane, Cary and Kalinda to visit their old college a full year after Will was shot. She regaled them with stories of the two of them and their friends. She laughed when he called her 'Cavanaugh' again. She held his hand as they walked past all their old haunts. They weren't aware of the pictures being taken by Zach or Grace. It was like they were in college again.
She turned around when he said her name. She gasped and covered her mouth with her hand as her eyes teared up at what she saw. Will was on one knee holding a ring box. Their eyes stayed on one another as he spoke.
"Alicia, I couldn't have gotten through this year without you by my side. I love you, and your two kids, so much. The doctor told me I should have died but I found something that made me fight to live, and that was you. The idea of me not telling you that I loved you scared me more than death itself so I fought to get back to you, and I'm glad I did because when I woke up and saw you beside me I knew we were meant to be together for the rest of our lives, no matter how short long they might be. So, Alicia Cavanaugh, will you marry me, be my wife for the rest of our lives?" Will asked her. She choked out a yes through her tears and smiled when he put the ring on her finger before he got to his feet and kissed her, spinning her around. They were hugged by Zach and Grace. She kissed her new fiancée deeply before she took off running down the grassy area, a place where they spent so much time 21 years ago.
She heard their laughter mixing together as he chased her and caught her by her waist and swung her around. They landed on the grass, her on top of him like she was 21 years ago when they were studying and she was using him as a pillow.
She would never regret staying by his side when he got shot by Jeffery Grant, nor would she regret asking Peter for a divorce the same day Will was shot because if she hadn't, she could have lost Will forever. And she couldn't have lived in a world where William Paul Gardner wasn't in it with her.
