IT WAS DARK and the air was overly cold. Rosalyn was walking next to him but it was just silent. He didn't say anything; there was a long story which he didn't utter a word of. However, Rosalyn did not mind.
His presence gave her body this weird jolt of electricity. It was like he fueled her with power, but at the same time she could not do a thing. His presence made her breathless, especially his silence.
He wasn't a vampire. He was not one of the creatures that, in her head, resembled the devil. He was a man, a very handsome man, who simply took her breath away.
"You look lost in thoughts, Ms. Stone. Hopefully, you are not thinking of ways to run away from me."
She took in a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. "I am not trying to run away." She looked at the side of his face which was visible to her eyes, "I'm merely waiting for the story you're supposed to tell me."
"You have given me your word not to utter a word of my presence."
She stopped. She was not sure what she had been expecting because it was not the story nor the questions. "Is that the only reason you came to see me? To make sure I haven't mentioned you to anyone?"
Rosalyn was mad. She had always been complimented on her calmness, sometimes scorned for her coldness. Some went as far as calling her an ice princess. But she felt anger boiling inside her.
Elijah was taken aback by her anger. Her racing heart had made him think she was afraid of him, even though she did not smell of fear.
"What else could have brought me to see you?" He asked taking a step closer towards her.
A step too close, he thought. Her scent was captivating, and while his blood was no longer coursing through her veins, he still felt a sense of possessiveness over her. In his head, even for a fleeting moment, her life was his.
The fleeting moment was during this conversation, because Elijah could not stop himself from moving his body even closer to hers.
He had thought of excuses to give her for his presence. However, no matter how many times he lied to her, he could never lie to himself.
"Nothing. Absolutely nothing."
She stiffened, turning away from him; he made her angrier, and he could not help but wonder if his need for her presence is reciprocated.
He grabbed her by the arm, and flashed them both to the place he knew they would have more privacy.
Rosalyn felt her feet leaving the ground, and she was suddenly hit by a gust of wind, colder and stronger. Everything was a blur and she had no clue what was happening until she found herself in a room.
He had put her down, "I will leave for a minute and when I come back I hope you have calmed down."
"What the hell?! You can't just leave me..." Before she could finish her yelling fit, Elijah had left the room closing the door behind him.
She knew she was at a motel room, that much was obvious. She knew they hadn't travelled far, or at least that was what she believed. It was only a minute of running. She sat on the edge of the bed, her head between her hands, as she leaned down trying to figure out what was happening.
She couldn't understand herself, she couldn't understand him, nor did she understand why she was not terrified right now.
The only thing she understood was that Elijah hadn't left her mind one single moment. She was too aware of the fact that while she kept trying to put him in the back of her head, he kept just resurfacing.
