Ophelia's POV

At last, the bell signaling the end of second period meaning we could finally go to lunch. I quickly head to my locker and put in the code. As soon as it swings open, it gets slammed shut again. "Hey sis, How were your first two classes so far?"

"How many times will I tell you to stop calling me that before it finally gets through your thick skull? They were good, just basic orientation stuff. What do you need?" I say, reopening my locker. I put away my stuff from english and spanish and grab my lunch tote.

"I just wanted to come say hi and see you," I watch as he looks over my shoulder with a grin.

Without following his gaze, I retort, "Right, like my little brother would ever think of such a thing. What is it you really want?"

He scoffs before answering, "Fine, Hunter would like to know if y'all want to come to his back-to-school party on Saturday."

"And by that he means Beverley," I state with a smile.

Ry looks behind me again, at who I now know is Hunter. "Yes, he wants to know if Beverley will come."

I sigh with a laugh before answering my brother's friend's question. "I will bring it up and let you know. But I can't guarantee anything."

Orion nods before turning and skipping his way back to Hunter, who, as I guessed, is standing on the other side of the hall behind me, watching the exchange with a hopeful look. His smile grows as he watches Orion skip over to him and gives him a slap on the back. I see them exchange a few words and laugh before walking away.

Hunter has had a crush on Bev for the longest time but refuses to admit it to anybody but Orion, although it is apparent to anyone with eyes. Beverley, of course, has no fucking clue she has such a big impact on this guy. Which is a little concerning as he makes heart eyes at her every time they are in the same vicinity.

Although most of Orion's friends are the typical jock jerk-offs, Hunter is actually a great person and Ry's best friend. Ry only seems to hang out with the other guys at school or at events but not often. That being said, Hunter practically lives at our house, and the same goes for Beverley and Rosalie. We're basically our own little friend group in a way. Although we don't hang out much at school, the group is almost inseparable outside of school.

I finally make my way into the cafeteria and over to the table I sit at with Bev and some other girls. Beverley already has her hot lunch and is chatting up a storm with the other girls like always. I sit down in the empty spot beside her and fall into the conversation of whether or not Tom Holland or Timothee Chalamet is cuter. I'm not much help in this instance but I listen to the girls' debate the boy-next-door look or the Victorian-era appeal none-the-less.

After a bit, the conversation evolves to the boys at our school. The girls excitably discuss which ones had the biggest glow-up over the summer and whether or not they are available. Of course, someone brings Orion up in the conversation and all the girls practically swooned. The only two who didn't were me, for obvious reasons, and Bev, since she see Ry as her own brother as well. The girls giggle as our noses scrunch at the thought of thinking my brother is cute in that way.

Alice, one of the girls who sits with us, laughs before pointing out, "Although Ophelia's brother is hot as fuck, he also got snatched up by Rosalie so it's not like any of us can do shit with him."

Another girl, Jane perks up, "But his best friend, Hunter, is available. He's still hot even though he's kinda shy and doesn't talk much. I'd smash."

A girl gives her a light smack on the shoulder and she mumbles a "What? I would," back to her. We've heard this argument since middle school. Yes, my brother hasn't always been with Rosalie and he has had a few girlfriends before her, but as soon as everyone hit puberty, he has been a hot topic.
