13 years ago:

Back in Safrin, the nothern part of the kingdom, lived a small family. They had one daughter. They were happy and healthy, blissed by joy and unaware of the dangers of life.

"Mother, may I play outside?" The young girl had appeared on the doorstep. She was holding a ball in her hand and was softly fidgeting with it. "Sure sweetheart! But return when the sun goes down. We don't want you to play in the dark all alone." The mom smiled at her kid. "Don't worry, I will make sure that I return!"

The young maiden turned around, ready to go outside. She always wore a pigtail, neatly braided from the top. Her mom had learned her that.

The girl went off playing, throwing the ball against trees and drawing figures in the sand with her finger. She was having a good time.

The sun went down.

Darkness fell over Safrin.

All light was gone.

The girl was going home again, hoping for the dinner her father had made. She could see her house in the distance. It was awfully quiet at night.

The girl opened the door and stood on the doorstep. She hoped to hear her mom's sweet voice again. To hear her say about her newly knit sweater, to hear her father tell about work. To hear the joy in their voices, to see the happiness in their faces.

It was all a lie.

A silly thought.

The world isn't filled with happiness. There is only danger and death.

Love is temporary, then it leaves just a scar. A broken heart.

That night that the girl went home, she saw her parents for the last time.

No happiness.

No joy.

No goodbye.

Just death and despair.

She stood there, frozen of fear. She saw everything. Her parents being murdered. Murdered by a vampire. A vampire with the name Amdis.

She could see her mom. She was almost dead. The girl remembered those last words her mom screamed at her:

"Run, Hildegard, run!"

Then she died.

I was only 10 at the time. But I learned from that moment on that there is no happiness. It was all taken away. Taken away by a filthy creature:

a vampire named Amdis.
