A distant buzz pulled America's attention away from the ongoing battles, he hastily whipped out his phone to be greeted by an unknown number.
'World Headquarters, ASAP. Discussion needed.'
No doubt it was ICJ.
In one swift motion, the American sprang to his feet, snatched his phone, and dialed in the number that had just texted him, his words clipped and urgent as he hastily stepped away.
"What the hell was that eerie text message for?"
"I figured it would get you moving." ICJ responded, "The car's already outside for you."
"Excuse me? Much to your dismay, I'm not just free to serve y'know." America rolled his eyes, responding to his elder snippily, "I'm busy."
"Watching the rank battles?" ICJ scoffed, "They're basically the exact same thing repeated, snore. You can ask your friends who wins, but the driver is waiting."
"Hello? Are you not listening-?"
"Did we not have this conversation before? I don't make bad decisions, complain later, come now." And with that the older man hung up, leaving America no wiggle room.
America's face contorted with frustration, his jaw clenched, and his grip on his phone tightened significantly before storming out, leaving a trail of tense energy behind him. He rapidly sent Canada a text message simply stating, "out" and to call him if he needs anything.
. . .
"Yay!" India cheered, "The men of the hour! Amazing job you two!" She offered both of the two men a hug which they happily obliged.
"I'm not gonna lie, I was worried..." Germany sighed, "But, no matter! I still won!"
As the group were discussing the battles, Russia's face turned perturbed, "Where's America?"
The group turned to face each other, some shrugging, and some whispering 'I don't know' s.
"Huh, that's weird. He was just here." Japan wondered, "He got up to take a phone call but I thought he came back."
Canada's face shifted from worried to eased when he heard a faint buzz from his phone, "He just texted... He's uh... out?" The confusion rapidly returned.
"Where?"
"He didn't say."
Germany rolled his eyes, "What is with that weirdo and disappearing? Did he learn nothing from being kidnapped?"
"He said to call him if we need anything." Canada sighed, "I suppose I'll call and say we need his location?" The Canadian rapidly tapped his phone screen with his index finger to initiate the call. Though, much to his dismay, the call immediately was declined.
"Well, so much for that..." Japan deadpanned, "Just like him, to say that and then not pick up. Honestly, you would think being kidnapped would teach this guy a lesson but no."
The Russian was tense, his breath shallow and his movements jittery, as anxiety gripped him tightly. Why was everyone bringing up America's kidnapping all of the sudden? Desperately, he tried to remind himself of America's janky promise that he wasn't in danger.
. . .
"Put that damn phone down!" ICJ demanded.
