SUNLIGHT CREEPED through the drapes of darkened room, the scent of freshly picked lavender filled the air. The wood floor creaked with every little touch that was made. The natural light lite the room up like the moon in the nights sky. The shadow of the girl inside swiftly moved along with her body. Her fingers delicately clipped a simple but modest hair clip on top of her swirled bun, the remaining hair lying softly past her shoulders. Her eyes stared at her image in front of her, examining her outfit to fit her suitable desire. She wanted to look put together, not the nervous little girl who bit her finger nails every time she got lost within the beautiful thoughts in her head.

To anyone, today was just any other day, but to LAUIRE PLINTH, this was the first day that led her to her fate. Reaping day. The day that picked 2 tributes ages 12-18 from each district to compete for victory in the yearly Hunger Games. She counted the years until her name old would be added into the bowl, trying to push aside her anxiety for when she would become of age.

Lucky for her, she turned 12 years old 3 months ago. She was now a considered tribute. She tried to tell herself that she would be ok, that she wouldn't be called, that she would be home in a matter of a few hours. But that's not how this works. Anyone could be reaped. She just hoped it wasn't her.

A knock on the wooden door brought Laurie out her mind, causing her to look at who was there.

"You almost ready to go, Cinderella?"

DALTON PLINTH stood, leaning against the door frame, his arms crossed over his chest. Dalton was never nervous for reaping day. This was his last one, why would he be nervous? In a few short months, he would turn 19 and wouldn't have to worry about being reaped. His freedom was so close yet so far. The several years before Laurie turned 12, Dalton told her stories about what he believed went on in the games, with the obvious sugar coating for her wellbeing. He described it to be a wonderful experience that would make a great story someday. So when he woke up that morning, he wasn't surprised seeing Laurie was already up before the sun rose above the trees.

"I guess."

"You guess? Come on, that wasn't confident at all."

"How am I supposed to be confident when my name could be called?"

A sigh left his lips as he walked into the room. He kneeled down and turned her by her shoulders to face him.

"Your name won't be called. I assure you."

"How do you know?"

"Because Laur, this is the first time your name will be in there. You only have one while others have several. Hell, I'm more likely to be called than you."
