'I'm just like you, you're just like me.
Imperfect and human, are we?"
SHOW AND TELL - MELANIE MARTINEZ

The train ride from district 10 to the Capitol was dreadful, for Laurie at least. The luxury transportation moving at nearly 200 miles per hour, the people inside not feeling sliver of motion sickness.

Laurie and Jax were seated in the silver covered chairs timidly awaiting their mentor. Laurie's eyes remained out the window, watching as the view passed by quickly. The metal doors pushed open, a man striding through. The two stared at the man, observing his walk towards them, taking them by surprise with her turned at the kitchen. The man poured himself a glass of liquid from a shiny, metallic bottle before making his way to the tributes, taking a seat opposite of them.

"Congratulations."

"When do we start?"

"Woah, there pal, give me a second to drink first."

Laurie watched the man down his drink without a second to spare, placing the glass onto the table beside him. JENZEN CORVIN was the victor of the 56th Hunger Games, winning his game by taking 6 tributes out all at once using poisonous knives. The man was ruthless to say the least.

"Now, I hear that you two are pretty good with guns."

The tributes remained silent as the mentor stared at them through his eyelashes.

"I'm going to make you two amazing with guns, and more because I'm not going to waste my time with you if you're going to die in 2 weeks."

"When do we start."

"Right now."

Laurie hadn't realized that the train had came to a stop. She heard the commotion outside, walking up to the window to see what was happening. Hundreds of people stood cheering but only got louder when the little girl shyly waved and cracking a smile.

"The second you walk out that door, you need to have your game face on. Those people want to see a show, so give them a show."

Shortly after they arrived at the Capitol, the tributes were delivered to stylists. They were tasked with preparing them for the parade later that night. So as Laurie laid on the table she was taken too, the 2 stylists got to work. They washed her body, plucked her eyebrows, brushed her hair and painted her nails.

Now she sat in a room that could be played off as a surgical room, waiting for her very own stylist. She brought her attention to the door as it was opened, a beautiful woman strutted in. Her bright blonde hair set perfectly in place, her neon pink heels shined brighter than her pearly white smile did.

"You must be Laurie. I'm Fauna, your stylist."

"Nice to meet you."

"You too, sweetie. I'm sorry this has happened to you, you're just a child. But I'm here to help you in any way I possibly can."

"Everyone just congratulates me."

"This is not something to congratulate, dear. Especially at your age. Tonight is the tribute parade, you get to be all dressed up and show the world who you are."
