PARTY WALKER ANTHEM
EPISODE 5. New
A/n: 2123 words. Sorry y'all.

2 weeks earlier...

Soft music filled the room, ballet posters adorning the walls and trophies lining a few shelves.

In the center, a red-haired teen performed a graceful pirouette. Her hair spun with her body as if it knew what to do from such a practiced routine.

The girl held a serene yet focused expression. The scenery of her room blurred together as she spun on the ball of her foot, the details even more hazy from not being the object of focus.

A few knocks at her door took her out of her activity.

"Hey trooper, the bus-"

Her father's sudden appearance dragged her attention away almost instantly. Having no time to safely slow down, the abrupt stop of her pirouette caused her to trip over her own feet.

A loud "ACK!" escaped the girl as she fell down onto her back. "Ow.."

Her father stared down at her for a moment or two before attempting to stifle a laugh. His daughter was unamused. "Don't."

She sat up with a soft groan, resting on her elbows and pushing the now displaced bangs back into their original position. "What'd you want?"

"Oh yeah, the bus is down the street."

Ashlyn could only stare at her father momentarily before scrambling around her room. "Crap, I'm not ready!"

Her father leaned against the doorframe, calling out to his daughter through her panicked frenzy of preparing for school. "There's coffee on the counter if you want it."

Once Ashlyn was sure everything she needed was in her bag, she rushed downstairs, swiping the coffee her father offered her off the counter with haste and running towards the door. Not before passing her mom who just so happened to also be running late.

"Bye Mom!"

"Have a good day! Please make sure Y/n's on the bus today!"

Ashlyn sighed with a small groan under her breath and an eye roll. Why does that have to be her problem? She wished this was an uncommon occurrence, but whatever higher power was not on her side.

She looked down her driveway, her aforementioned family friend already standing near her mailbox, the sound of the front door shutting roused her attention from her phone.
