Your 5 a.m alarm went off, disturbing your peaceful sleep. You squirmed in your bed, instinctively reaching for your phone.

When it was in your hands, the sea of notifications flooded your screen. But one in particular always stood out to you.

quinn 🫶🏼
good morning 😁

The day you told Quinn about your morning routine that hadn't changed since freshman year of high school, he decided to set his alarm to 4:59, giving him the chance to let you wake up to his text.

You'd be lying if you said you didn't have a crush on Quinn. His awkwardness and heavy passion for hockey made you swoon like crazy. The fact that you saw him everyday for work didn't help either.

You texted back, then set your phone back down to get ready.

Soon enough, you had your car keys in hand and walked out your apartment. To no one's surprise, your eyes quickly spotted Quinn stepping out of his and locking his door.

"Morning!" He said when he turned around to see you.

You'd never been so grateful that the universe had blessed you with being accidental front door neighbours with Quinn Hughes.

His hair was slightly messy and he was wearing his usual black compression shirt and grey sweatpants.

A smile rose on your face at the sight, "Morning Quinn. How was your night?"

"It was fine. Couldn't sleep though." He replied.

"Why's that?"

He smirked and glanced at you, "Because you weren't there with me."

You heard the door lock click as you laughed and gently smacked his shoulder, earning the toothy smile you saw every weekday.

The two of you made casual conversation as you entered the elevator, exchanging side glances as it took you down to the lobby. He greeted people as you passed by them since you weren't in the mood to socialize with anyone other than him.

When you both set foot in the parking garage, you laughed as Quinn picked up his pace to get to his car faster than you could get to yours.

Quinn was aware of your fear of backing out of a parking space. Why you wouldn't reverse park was still a mystery to him, but he would never ask.

So, when he found out about this fear he'd proceed to reverse before you did, giving you enough space to back out, but blocking the road so no cars would surprise you.

"Thanks Quinn!" You yelled as he backed out and blocked the path.

You stood in the hall, waiting for the team to come down so you could collect their equipment.

Shifting on your feet, you pulled your phone out of your pocket and started scrolling. This went on for a few minutes before you could hear voices around the corner. You put your phone away and placed a smile on your face.

"Good morning, Y/n!" Brock said, tossing his gloves at you.

You smiled and placed his gloves on their respective poles.

This continued, the boys telling you good morning, you answering and putting their gloves to dry.

In only a few minutes, you had collected every single pair of gloves but one. You knew exactly who's, but you also knew better than to wait around.

Quinn liked staying a few minutes after the rest of the team. So, when you had to collect pucks off the ice after they were done, you often made friendly conversations with him.

And much to your avail, there he was. He skated around the blue line, taking a few shots on the empty net.

Not wanting to distract him too badly, you knocked on the glass soft enough to get his attention, but not hard enough to scare him.

When his eyes landed on yours, he smiled and he began skating towards you. "Y/n!"

"Hey Quinn! How long do you think you'll be out here for?" You asked, carefully stepping onto the ice to meet him halfway.

Even though you weren't falling or stumbling, he still reached out and placed his calloused hands on your waist. You couldn't help but look up at him and smile.

"A few more minutes. Do you need me off?" He asked, looking around.

You shook your head, "Nah you're all good. Just let me know when you're ready."

He nodded and flashed you a smile, going back to where he was on the ice.

~~~
"Y/n! Come here for a second please!" You heard a woman yell.
Looking up, you saw one of the social media girls waving you over wearing a huge smile on her face.
You tilted your head at her expression, "You okay?"
She nodded eagerly and sat back down in her chair. Clicking a few buttons on her laptop, an image pulled up on her screen. Your eyes widened and your face flushed when you saw a picture of you and Quinn, standing on the ice with his hands on your waist. You couldn't help but also notice the look on both your faces. Looking... in love.
"What- How- When?" You stuttered.
A laugh left her lips, "I was going to get some extra film of Quinn for a post we wanted to do and then I saw this. Are you guys a thing?"
"No, we're just neighbours."
"Well in that case, can we post it?" She asked, giving you a hopeful look.
You hesitated, "Is that a good idea? Maybe we should ask Quinn first."
"Already did. He gave me the green light." She smiled.
Your eyes widened at her words, "Oh! Okay then, go ahead."
She giggled and thanked you, focusing her attention on editing the picture before putting in up on the Canucks instagram page.
As you were packing up your things in your office, there was a knock on your door, "Come in!"
The handle twisted down, revealing Quinn. His hair was wet and he was in his playoff hoodie and some basketball shorts. You smiled at the sight, only ever seeing it on his days off.
"Are you busy?"
"Just packing up, did you need something?"
He smiled, "Just waiting for you. Parking lot's busy."
"My hero." You grinned, zipping your bag.
You walked past him, silently telling him to follow behind you. As the two of you made your way out of Rogers, you couldn't help but notice the pretty much empty lot.
Turning towards Quinn, you perked up your eyebrow, "I thought you said it was busy?"
"Yeah, I just needed to get you out here alone." He mumbled, turning his body towards you. He didn't let you get another word out before he kept going, "Y/n, ever since the day you helped me move in I've liked you. I wake up one minute earlier to tell you good morning. I back out first because I know you're scared of it. When I tell you I will continue this routine forever, I-"
You cut off his rambling by placing your lips on his. You could feel him slightly gasp as his mind caught up and kissed you back, his hands landing on your waist for the second time today. When you pulled away, you smiled.
"I like you too, Quinn."
I had an idea with this one and it went off the tracks (I still like it tho)
hope you enjoyed !
