-- " So, (Y/N).. It's been like forever!" He started as you followed him through the staff room. You chuckled, "yeah, i didn't expect that i would see you so soon."
"What? Miss me?" He joked, a charismatic smile was plastered on his face. You shook your head, looking at him a playful frown. "Excuse me?"
Thomas raised both of his hands in a sign of defeat, as he looked at you over his shoulder. " Just kidding! I hope Tobias doesn't beat m-------" he paused in realization, his mouth agape. "Im so, sorry (Y/N)." He finally faced you, a worried look crossing over his features.
You laugh, trying to shake off the ache that was growing inside your heart. "It's fine-- let's just not talk about it.. please?" You gave him a small smile which he replied with the same reassuring smile. "Sure, im sorry." He apologized once again. You nodded before putting on your apron.
"So what do i do?" You asked. " you gotta make coffee and talk to people." Thomas replied, also putting on his black apron. You let out a heavy sigh, "wait, they're actually for real when they said that we'll be needing as much emotional intelligence?" Chuckling, you tied your hair into a ponytail.
"Yeah, and if your surprise why Lola still got this far is because she can keep up with that mask of her, but i think-- y'know she basically gaslights them. She's good at it-- i tell ya." The male snickered before he went out to the counter to welcome you assume another worker.
"(Y/N) this is Ronald. He'll be handling the costumers while i teach you. Ronald meet (Y/N), new kid." The male named Ronald gave you a sweet smile before he went to the lockers. He was a tall black male, his hair was buzzed and he had those gentle brown eyes that got you assuming that he's a very nice person.
"Ready?" You glanced at Thomas, giving him a thumbs up and a smile. "Great."
-- You groaned tiredly, running a hand through your hair. It was already almost twelve A.M and you were still there to help Thomas and Ronald clean some things up.
Two new staffs came. Another girl introduced herself as Jhoan. She works on nightshifts alongside her acquaintance Kayla.
You were thankful for Thomas, cause he helped you figure some things out, and he also helped you to be comfortable in this new environment and he taught you new things that you have to learn.
You clocked yourself out and went to the lockers, you removed your apron then hanged it on the wall. You removed the tie wrapped around your locks, fixing your hair.
You grabbed your bag, then waved your fellow staffs goodbye. You were about to leave the premises but Thomas chased after you. "Hey, (Y/N) im so sorry if im not able to take you home tonight-- it's so dark already. You wanna wait for some couple of minutes so.. i can give you a ride?" Thomas apologetically smiled at you, scratching the back of his neck.
You shook your head, "oh no, dont worry. I can take myself home and i have a pepperspray with me." You smiled, reassuringly. "Are you sure?" He asked once again, you nodded in response, waving him goodbye before finally leaving the store.
You knew it was so stupid of you to decline his offer, but you were impatient-- you couldn't wait for more couple hours. You wanted to get home immediately, remove these tight clothes, have a nice bath and throw yourself in your nice bed.
--- Minutes have passed and to your relief, you finally reached the train station. When you heard an approaching train coming, you quickly ran down the stairs, bought some ticket and waited for the train to come close.
You looked around, not many people were around anymore... except for the lady, carrying her infant. An old man puffing on some cigarettes. A women dressed so formally, though she looks like she could past out from tiredness any moment now.
You frowned a little when a strange man came into sight, he was sitting on a bench quietly. He wore goggles and a mask which you found confusing yet amusing. You looked down at what he was wearing, it was dirty... but that wasn't the one that catched your attention-- it was those two hatchets resting beside him
Is he some kind of a lumberjack? You thought.
You looked away in realization of what you're doing-- it is very strange to stare...
You sighed in relief when the train finally stopped infront of you. You entered the moment the door slid open. The train was almost empty, it is empty but you and the others came by, filling it-- though not completely.
You sat on the cold seat of the train. You pulled out your phone and texted your mother that you'll be arriving soon.
You sat there for almost 6 minutes already, waiting for the train to arrive at your destination. You suddenly felt the hair in the back of your neck rising-- you felt eyes, staring. Burning holes at your figure.
After that you looked around once again and felt a shiver run down your spine when you saw the same strange man now staring at you. He was standing far away from you, leaning against a pole, he also got rid of his goggles, revealing his eyes that watched you like a hawk. You looked away, averting eye contact.
You fiddled with your fingers, glancing at him once again. He was now looking somewhere else. You squinted your eyes, trying to pick up his features. He somehow looked familiar... with those messy brown locks and dark eyes...
You muttered something under your breath, you felt your heart grew faster by the second, bead of sweats started to fall down from your forehead. Your eyes were wide, and you knew you looked pale as if you saw a ghost.. well. He looked like one.
You were too stunned to move but suddenly the train stopped, the smoker who was sitting far from you stood up then exited the train, the strange man following.
Staring at the ground, you assured yourself that it was just someone that has the same features as him. "He's dead, (Y/N)." You whispered, your heart aching at the though of your Toby six feet underground. Yes, it has been a year but it is still fresh--- as if it only happened yesterday.
