You watched Toby gripping his tray as he walked in the corner of the canteen, attempting to find an empty table which he succeeds.
It was the middle of lunch break, you can't help but stare at Toby after the incident yesterday, you hoped he was okay.
You were planning to approach him but your friend saw right through you. "Don't you dare, (Y/N)." Shane mumbled, glaring at you. She wasn't there to see the commotion yesterday, but news did get to her.
She was a great friend, you must say but her indifference--- their indifference towards Toby causes you to look at them differently. How could they treat someone so poorly, they don't even know him--- so who were them ro judge?
You stood up then apporached Toby's table, not even sparing her a glance, you could just hear her sighing.
When you finally got closer, you sat to a seat opposite from him. "Your body still hurts?" You started, glancing at him while you took a bite of your food. He momentarily looked at you aswell before answering. "Just a bit." His voice low and quiet.
"The girl 'Lyra' yesterday, your sister?" Toby nodded, still eating his food while sparing some glances at you. "Do i have something on my face?" You chuckled, Toby quickly looked away, but you didn't fail to notice the pink blush that tainted his cheeks.
You continued to talk to himz telling him stories about your ild school while he just listened, his head low while he stared at his food. You doubt if he was even still listening.
Suddenly a hand pushed Toby's head down to his almost empty tray, before they poured a chocolate milk on top of his head. Few crowds gasp while others erupted in loud laughters.
You stood up, grabbing your tray and slamming it full force to the culprit's face. "Bitch!" The male groaned before pinching his nose that was now bleeding. You didn't know him, but you would see him at times in your peripheral vision, he would laugh at Toby whener someone trips him, laugh at him when someone beats him up.
You grinned at him playfully, though obviously annoyed. "What's your deal?" You spat, pushing him lightly in the shoulder, forcing him away from Toby. He glared at you along with his servants in the back.
"Huh? It looks good on him." He cackled, running a hand through his blonde locks. Your glare hardened.
You grabbed your own carton of milk from the table before throwing it at him. "Suits you aswell, pretty boy." The watching crowds snickered, their phones pointing at his covered figure.
The male flickered his middle finger infront of your face before glaring at Toby who was still sitting down, his head still low while the liquid dripped down from his brunette locks. The male quickly sprinted away along his companions--- they were still grinning like you. "You'll pay for this bitch!" You let out a mocking laugh. "Get lost!" You shouted back, watching him disappear from your sight.
You quickly sat back on your seat, letting out a deep sigh. You looked at Toby, noticeable concern was seen in your eyes. You grabbed your handkerchief, placing it on top of his head, letting the cloth soak all the milk that was left on his hair.
"That was one hell of a jerk." You scoffed, lightly shaking your head in disbelief. A familiar female blonde suddenly approached the table. "Are you both okay?" She asked, genuinely concerned. "Y-yes." You stuttered, both of you then stared at Toby, waiting for him to speak. The silence was filled by his uncontrollable tics and the quiet muttering of the students around.
Another good seconds passed before Toby quickly stood up, sprinting away with his tray on hands. Lyra followed, she gave you a reassuring smile before following Toby.
You let out a sigh, gripping a hand in your head, there was a sudden pang of pain in your head. "Did i do something wrong?" You mumbled to yourself.
_________
"What was that Toby?" Lyra exclaimed out of confusion and annoyance. "You left without thanking her." She remarked, still following her little brother who was headed behind the school premises--- where it was empty and quiet.
"I didn't ask for her help anyways!" Toby stuttered, sliding down a wall and seating on the rocky ground. Lyra shook her head in disbelief before sitting next to him. "What has gotten with you Toby? You're acting very different, do i even know you?!" The blonde female cupped her brother's face, forcing him to look at her.
"I can't do this anymore.." Toby spoke, his voice cracking. He looked down, avoiding Lyra's gaze. "I wanna leave the house--- i wanna leave school, i don't want someone to get hurt because of me." He sobbed, his tics worsening due to overwhelming emotions.
"Toby, i promise--- we'll get there, okay? Someday, we'll live on our own. I'll have my family and you'll have yours. J-just, hang in there, please." Lyra nodded, attempting to hold back the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes. Toby nodded, letting tears fall freely from his eyes.
"But now, you'll have to approach (Y/N) later, tell her sorry and thank you. Okay? It's rare to find someone like her. If someday, we're finally ready with this conversation, i'll want you to marry her." Lyra chuckled, causing Toby to turn red, his eyes were wide due to embarassment. "No way!" He declined, still blushing. Lyra gave him a look, a teasing and threatening one.
The brunette sighed in defeat. "I'll talk to her later but marry? I dont want to!"
Toby paused for a second before continuing. "Im not sure if someone would want to marry me and im not sure if i wanna marry either." He whispered, his voice filled with sadness and doubt. Noticing the current state of his brother, Lyra ruffled Toby's locks.
"Don't say that, i have a feeling that you will love someone soon to the point where you'll sacrifice the world for them."
Toby cringed at her sister's statement, but deep down he wondered... how does it feel? Loving someone so dearly that they are more important than the lives of billions.
It was unimaginable...
He doesn't think someone can love that much.
