First Phase

What the hell… Why couldn't I sense hostility from this person? This person seems to be different from the others and doesn't seem to have any hidden intention. If I have to look closely at this person's slight movement, it seems that this guy's nervous? But why?

The person next to Markus noticed that they're being stared at by him and decided to glance at him. Luckily for Markus, he managed to look away in time before he got caught.

Oh crap, that was close. That one made me nervous. I can still feel that this person is still looking at me. Please look away. Look away. Look away. Look away.

"That being said, I wish you luck everyone. Let the entrance exam begin."

Wait what?.. Oh crap, I was so distracted by these people's ill intentions towards me that I couldn't pay attention to what the proctor was saying. Luckily for me, that cloak guy gave me some information about how the entrance exam works and some tricks to deal with each of them.

"The entrance consists of 4 phases: Evocation, Conjuration, Abjuration and Transmutation. In other words: destruction, creation, protection or intervention and alteration. Or at least that's how I see how those entrance exams work. But it's still necessary to listen to the proctor's instructions so you can fully understand how those different phases work."

Damn it, why did it pop out so late? I didn't realize how important that stinky proctor's instructions were until I remembered it. Looks like I'll have to watch how these nasty nobles do it in every exam. Let's see what they'll do to that huge orb over there.

*Snaps*

After a snap from the proctor's fingers, a huge magic circle appeared and formed a huge magic barrier around the giant orb along with its area leaving huge spaces around the giant orb. Everyone was impressed by the proctor's magic spell he performed effortlessly.

"Let us begin with the first phase. Each participant will take turns once to unleash their most powerful attacks on this huge orb using magic. You can only use any form of attack as long as it includes magic. However, you can only attack once. That orb will then respond from your attacks by changing into certain colors such as red, orange, yellow, cyan and blue. The requirements to pass this first phase is to make the orb turn yellow, cyan or blue from your attacks. Remember, failing to do so only means one thing so best of luck everyone."

I see, so this is the first phase huh? The goal here is to deal damage to the giant orb with everything you got to pass this first phase. In other words, it's to use magic to unleash magical attacks with destructive effects. That means this first phase calls for evocation magic. I didn't seem to understand much at first, but it looks like I'm finally getting what that cloak guy meant by that. That cloak guy's information seems to be more useful than I expected. I actually thought that guy was spewing nonsense at first, but it looks like I'm somewhat wrong. Also… is it just me but, it seems that these people are somehow worried about something?

"Let us begin the first phase with participant number 1, shall we?"

"Wait, I have a question to ask."

I recognize that voice. Ahh, it's that shitty noble that messed up with me earlier. What does he want to show off this time?

"What is it, participant number 49?"

"If I happen to accidentally destroy that giant orb completely, is that considered as a passing requirement?"

"Yes it is, only if you manage to do so. It isn't your turn yet though so don't get too excited."

"Tsk."

The participant number 49 was irritated by the proctor's response and had no choice but to wait for his turn. The entrance began with participant number 1 entering the magical barrier while the other participants outside the barrier watched the participant inside wondering how he would execute his attack.
