Second Phase II

Up until now, I didn't let my guard down for a moment and kept vigilant to my surroundings ever since I was guided by the assistant to the room. I don't know exactly what my childhood was since I have no memories of them whatsoever. But what I do know for sure is that I'm born with these extraordinary senses. Hearing, sense, sight, smell and even taste. I could use these senses to a greater extent where most people can't. These senses have helped me gather some information by observing other people perform their magic spell closely with my sight, and through hearing other people's gossip from a distance. And that's where I find out that the object's texture plays a big role for this exam. Which is why when the same wooden spoon appeared again, I noticed right away that there's something different. The texture of the spoon was different from the other one. But because the difference is so small, most of them did not seem to notice which is why many of them failed this round.

"Hey, it's just a wooden spoon right?"

"Why did we fail on this one?"

"Isn't that the same spoon from before? How are they different?"

Everyone that got their first fail started complaining as they couldn't understand why they failed.

*Snap*

"Intermediate Difficulty: Level 2."

The proctor however ignored their complaints and continued the exam like nothing happened. The others were mad about it but did not dare to interrupt the proctor and decided to continue as well instead. The second phase exam continues meanwhile the assistant is watching from the side.

It seems that Montero himself has been purposely summoning extremely simple and easy items to be replicated by the participants. He kept summoning simple items that are easier than the difficulty itself to make these participants think that this exam will be easy and lowering their guards down. After that, he summoned another simple item yet with a texture that is difficult to notice. As a result, they have failed to replicate the texture of the item. In other words, he's purposely trying to reduce the number of participants as much as he can. Although, it seems there are few participants including sir Markus that didn't let their guard down and saw through it. Looks like he's much more than I expected.

As the exam progressed, most participants managed to adapt, some of them are still failing at some levels and some participants were eliminated at 8th level.

"Participant number 19, 134, eliminated."

The eliminated participants are then guided away by assistant Paul and gather them in one place before transporting them at the gate of the school. Meanwhile, Markus still hasn't failed for the single time and seems to have no trouble passing every round at intermediate level. Everything seems going well for him until the final level of the intermediate level.

Alright, almost there just a bit more- Wait...

At that moment, Markus could sense that something was coming and instinctively looked on his right where he sensed for a moment. At the same time, a beam of light struck the item on his table destroying his item and grazing his right face at the same time. Despite his extraordinary sight, he couldn't react in time. The time ran out and the magic circle on his table turned red,  damaging his table and leaving small cracks on the surface. Making this Markus's first fail.

What the hell, that was too fast. However, I'm now aware who's the attacker. The proctor however couldn't see it since he looked away for a moment. It seems that these nasty bastards will only attack when the proctor isn't looking. Wait no, the proctor did say we may do whatever we wish. Looks like he's allowing sabotage.
