There were three knocks on the wooden door followed by a quiet creak.

"You wanted to see me sir?"

"Ah, Sunoo!" The man said, putting his glasses down, turning away from the computer to the well dressed blonde boy, lanyard with his identification hanging around his neck, on top of his tie, "Please come in. Have a seat."

"Thank you, sir," He said politely, closing the door behind him, walking to the desk and taking a seat in front of his boss.

"Sunoo."

"Yes sir?" Sunoo said, hands clasped in his lap, trying not to show how nervous he really was.

"It's about the promotion," He said, authority in his voice as he straightened his back.

This promotion was all Sunoo wanted. He's worked towards this position since he entered the company, and now it was right in front of him...

"Y-Yes, sir?" He stuttered, not knowing what else to say.

Did he get it? Did he not? Was the presentation that he did not good enough?

The higher-ups have been stewing in this decision since he did the presentation a week ago. How long did it take to just decide a name?

Sunoo had been anxious and on edge about the situation. Every single day, Sunghoon had to remind him, that promotion or not, he was so proud of the hardwork that Sunoo had put in. He started preparing for the presentation the minute that he received the assignment and didn't stop preparing until the second that he had to present it. His colleagues had constantly dropped the ball on it, and Sunoo had to go so far as to spend nights in the office, picking up the slack, sometimes not even getting more than an hours rest.

If anyone deserved the position, it was Sunoo. But he wasn't about to tell his boss that. He would just sit here, with his back straight and a blank expression on his face, no matter who got the position.

"As you know, we have been thinking about filling this position for a while. We're looking for some resilient, someone who can handle pressure and is hardworking, someone who is worthy of filling this position..."

Sunoo listened to him ramble on for an incredibly long time, wondering if he was done with his unwarranted and unsolicited speech.

"...And the board and I have come to the decision that you would be perfect for it."

"What?" Sunoo said, eyes doubling in size.

"You got it , Sunoo." He said with a wide smile, "Congratulations. You got the position."

Sunoo grinned from ear to ear. This was all he ever wanted. A managing position with an amazing pay rise. He even got his own office! This was all he had been working towards! This was his dream. He was finally going to be able to live his dream.

Just as quick as the smile came; it fell.

Sunghoon. He had to think about Sunghoon.

Yeah, sure, this job was great! This promotion would be amazing! The salary hike could help him cut the loan time that he had taken out for the apartment in half, and he could afford more fancy dinners, and maybe even buy the car that he had been fantasising about in a few months. But this job also meant, more hours, and more time spent in the office. If he accepted this, he wouldn't have enough time to spend with Sunghoon. He couldn't take that risk. He didn't want to be there when something happened. He would never forgive himself. He could never forgive himself.

Sure, this job was great, but it wasn't his priority anymore. Sunghoon was. Sunghoon is. He could worry about finding another job, or getting the promotion later. But right now, the only thing on his mind was Sunghoon.
