(This one is a bit confusing, but I think it'll get self explanatory. Death, blood, and a little gore, and as always, please read and vote! Ily all!)
Death is a funny thing to me, the way it brings hundreds of emotions to the humans. It's funny to me because humans all know it's going to happen in their futures, it is inevitable. Yet they all fear it deeply. Death is their fate, why would one fear their fate, why would one fear death if they had all their lives to prepare for it. From the moment they were born, they had the understanding their life would end, for it had started. Many people tend to believe that life and death are practically sewn together with a thread stronger than fate itself. Perhaps the thread is fates thread. Both thoughts are wrong, as it is fate itself that cuts the string.
To many people, I seem dark and twisted, but to one group of people I was viewed like the midnight sky, and you need darkness to see what the light truly is. They don't fear me, they don't fear death, and for that I observed their lives closely. Of course they could never see me nor hear me, I wasn't truly a human, I wasn't even sure what I was myself. I used to be normal a long time ago, until I adapted the tittle of death, and death became avoidable to me, for I was the one who delivered it. I would take the life out of thousands each day, experiencing the heart wrenching screams from their loved ones, even though they had known the time would come at some point in their lives. I had experienced more pain and torture than I thought imaginable. Yes, I was death myself, but it hurt inside to watch people scream and suffer.
Sometimes, people held on a little longer than they were supposed to, so I sat beside them, making myself visible so I could hold their hand and comfort them. As I held their hands, I could feel their bodies drift away into the sky, their souls being released from their human shaped prisons. When I felt the soft touch of peoples hands, I could feel their strong emotions, which always came during the moments before death. Fear coursed through many peoples bodies as they lived their last moments, but right before death, I always felt their emotions turn to comfort and calmness as they finally accepted their fates. It was funny, how almost everyone only truly accepted what their fate would be until the seconds before their lives ended.
Almost everyone. But not the group who called themselves the avengers. Secretly, I admired their bravery and selflessness. I would get alerts of humans near death, but many times the avengers would show up and save many lives. Not only did it make my job much easier, but it made others lives more enjoyable. I was able to follow the avengers throughout some of their day, for I wasn't the only one cursed with the job titled "death". There were many of us, spread out throughout the world, and perhaps spread out through other worlds too. We were all controlled by the higher death, Dillionas. Billions of years ago, as the world was born, he was created with it, his role being the one and only death for the entire world. As more and more extraterrestrials began to appear on planets, he realized he wasn't powerful enough to be able to support every planet with the amount of deaths they needed on a daily basis to function.
He found slaves to work for him, cursed people who had nothing better to do with their lives, and he controlled them, building a whole "death" empire. It was truly ironic, but I didn't question him, for if I had been cursed with the role of death for the entire universe, I would've done the same. The good thing about there being many deaths around the world, was that I didn't have to release too many people per day. I only have to experience about 3,000 deaths per day, which may seem like a lot, but most are a few seconds or even less. I can also teleport to the site of the death, so it is easier to get around where I need to go. It is also easier to get around to follow the avengers. Twice I was called to one of the avengers as they were on the brink of dying, but they had managed to pull themselves back into the living, which had let an unknown breath I had been holding escape.
