Sometimes actions hurt more than words

'A bourbon for me please love.' The man says in a compelling sense using his deep husky voice to entice the bartender. 'Yes sir' she replies, almost immediately spinning around and placing not one but two glasses down on the long wooden table. 'Thankyou' he offers smiling at her , then he takes her hand and gives it a kiss. 'Excuse me a minute' , the figure has a sudden sense that he is being watched as a cool wave washes over him and he reluctantly turns around to face the young girl whose emerald eyes are blazing deep into his soul. The man looks up at her face. He would recognise those eyes anywhere.  'You know it's rude to stare.' He says rather smugly.

'I wasn't staring you creep!' She glares back at him with an unimpressed look on her face.

Aubree lied, she really was staring, I mean how could she not? Everything about him was so perfect starting from his raven like hair down to his midnight blue eyes. Even the way he dressed was perfect. She quickly shook off the feelings hoping the mysterious soul would go away.

'This creeps got a name and it's Damon'.

'Okay well can you be Damon somewhere else?' Aubree shoots back trying to not make eye contact.

'Would you care for a drink?' He offers gesturing towards the second glass that the bartender had sat down earlier, the bubbles now subsiding.

'Hm no thanks, you probably spiked it'. Aubree scoffs rolling her eyes.

'So what's a pretty girl like you doing here sitting at the bar all alone?' the mysterious man asks. Aubree averts her eyes and continues scanning around the room for Lexi. Suddenly she locks eyes with her.

'Aubree, over here!' Lexi says with her comforting smile. Glad that she doesn't have to formulate a response, Aubree carefully leaves the bar trying to avoid Damon as much as she can. Just as she's slowly backing away she hears a voice in the distance.

'Guess I'll see you later Bree' Damon says as he winks at Aubree who is too shocked to even speak. She stops dead in her tracks. 'Bree' that was the name her aunt used to call her and as far as she knew, no one else other than Lexi knew about it. Aubree fought back tears as she make her way over to Lexi who didn't notice the distress her best friend was under. Lexi never had this kind of trouble, she was effortlessly beautiful with her long blonde locks cascading down her back. She was over in the corner, clearly busy laughing with a group of people who she had just met. Sometimes Aubree felt out of place beside her.

'Um hey Lex sorry to interrupt but I need some air'. Lexi hardly glanced in Aubrees direction. She sighed and tried again.
'Lexi?'

'Sorry Bree, what is it ?'

'I'm just telling you I'm going outside for a minute.'

'Ok be careful' Lexi says genuinely.
Aubree didn't need to be reminded twice.
'Oh by the way Aubree I know a shortcut around here , just go out the side door' Lexi told her friend.

'Ok thanks' Aubree smiled and set off leaving her friend behind with the others.

'Are you stalking me?' A familiar black haired boy says, Aubree ignores this comment.

'How did you know about the nickname?' She asks. 

'I don't know what you're talking about.' Damon says.

'Earlier you called me Bree how did you know my name?' Aubree says getting less and lesser patient as he tries to gaslight her. Aubree walks back inside unbothered.

'Bree come play darts with us!' Lexi says with her usual smile alongside Stefan and a brunette girl who Aubree recognises immediately.

Aubree walks over to the dart board to collect the darts Lexi has just thrown when something catches her eye 'In loving memory of Sienna Valentina' a tear trickles down Aubrees face as she rests her hand on the plaque.

'Aubree are you okay?' A soft voice says as she stands next to the brunette.

'I'm gonna head home.' Aubree says wiping the tears from her face .

'Okay I'm coming with you.' Lexi says as she hugs Aubree trying to comfort her.

'What the hell are you doing?' Aubree asks, completely horrified that her best friend is being taken.
'Get off her' she screams.

'Aubree, we're gonna save her don't worry' Stefan says placing his warm hand on her shoulder as a comforting look spreads across his face.

The three of them run towards the exit only to be told that they can't leave that way. After going to every exit available they all realise that there is no way to get out.

'Psst, over here' a blonde boy with blue eyes whispers. 'I'll distract them while you go' he says in a hushed voice.

'Thank you Matt!' Elena says with a grateful tone. Aubree smiles and nods in acknowledgment but she is too worried about her bestfriend to talk.

Aubree hears muttered voices in the distance, she takes a closer look hoping for it to be Lexi

'Why?' Lexi mumbles choking on her own breath as the air stop flowing to her lungs.

'It's part of the plan.' Damon replies once again proud of his own actions.

Horror crosses Aubrees face once she realises what is happening. Her mind is sending her into a spiral not knowing what to do.

'NO!' Aubree screams running towards Lexi who is now lying there still and helpless. She rocks back and forth holding her bestfriend tight and not letting go with tears streaming down her face. 'HOW COULD YOU!!' She screams at Damon who is now walking back with a smirk impressed with what he's done. 'She was my bestfriend, now she's gone!', 'Now you've taken her away from me.' Aubree mutters still rocking back and forth in shock.
