'Log saath isliye nahi rehte kyu ke woh bhool jaate hai.
Log saath isliye rehte hai kyu ke woh maaf kar dete hai.'A week had passed since Kavya was exonerated, revealing her innocence. Once Mama Ji's betrayal was exposed, Adi began to ease his constant criticisms of her. His subsequent investigation confirmed Kavya's innocence, which he successfully presented in court.
Kavya, acting on her words left Pradhan Mansion the moment she was proven innocent. She looked back at Adi to stop her but alas, Adi had already left for his room.
Scoffing at her joke of a husband, Kavya left the house. It had been a week to this event when Kavya decided it was enough. She couldn't take more of Adi's bullshit and decided to confront him. And oh, she kept the divorce papers with her. Just in case she needs them.
On reaching Pradhan Mansion, Santu greeted her in excitement.
'Acha hua Bhabhi Ji aap agai. Adi bhaiya ne tou apna haal behaal kia hua hai?'
'Kia matlab?'
'Jub se aap gai hai, woh bus apne kamre mei bund rehte hai. Na kuch khate hai, na kisi se baat karte hai. Bus Omi k sath thora waqt bitate hai office se aane ke baad. Abhi bhi usi k sath hai. Dinner bhi nahi kiye hain.'
Kavya had an inkling behind Adi's aloofness and Santu's next sentences only confirmed her suspicions.
'Hum jub unke kamre ki safai karne jaate hai tou unka takiya roz bheega hua hota hai. Mano sari raat roye ho jaise. Aur kuch dino se tou..'
'Kuch dino se kia Santu?'
'Unke hatho pe halke se zakham bhi hai.'
'Adi...' Kavya hissed and closed her eyes in frustration.
Fuming, Kavya marched toward Adi's room, Santu following close behind. She was just about to knock when she noticed the door slightly open. Through the gap, she could see Adi sitting with his back against the headboard, his legs propped up, holding Omi, and pouring his heart out to him.
'Omi..ek baat batayein tujhe. Humein teri chachi bohot yaad aati hai.'
Omi just stared at him.
'Aise kia dekh raha hai? Teri chachi kaha isliye?'
Again, Omi just stared at him, sucking on his little hand.
'Teri hi chachi hai..usey apna kehte hue bhi sharam aati hai ab humein. Kitna ghalat samjha usey. Kitni takleef di. Kitni chot pochahi. Apni nafrat mei itne andhe ho gaye ke sach ko dekh ke bhi andekha kar dia.'
Adi was now lost in his thoughts and stared into nothings. After a shirt pause, he continued with tears pooling in his eyes.
'Usne iss ghar ko itna kuch dia aur badle mei iss ghar ne? Kuch bhi nahi dia. Sirf lia. Humari waja se aayi thi woh yaha. Humara soch ke. Par hum hi usko protect nahi kar paye. Humne kaha tha 'uski izzat, humari izzat', 'humein uske yaqeen pe yaqeen hai'..khokle vaade thy sub. Ek bhi nibha nahi paye. Usne humein kaha tha hum uski himmat hai..par hum? Uske layak hi nahi hai. Hum des..deserve nahi karte yar usey. Aur isliye humne usey jaane diya. Woh yaha se dur hi theek hai. At least koi bilawaja usey takleef tou nahi pochaye ga.'
Kavya's furor intensified at Adi's confession.
Adi's dark circles, puffy eyes and unkempt hair only added to her fury and exasperation.
'Par humein ek baat ki khushi hai, usey apni job wapus mil gayi.'
Kavya noticed how Adi's puffy, lifeless eyes suddenly sparkled with joy when he mentioned her returning to her job. This moved her deeply but also made her wish to bang his head against the wall.
