Chapter 6

Kazama

The security guard shooed the cat away and picked the dustbin I had accidentally tripped over.We were hiding between two cars, waiting for the guard to go. I don't even know where this place is and what I am doing here but here I am. Hiding from someone with Shinchan. I could hear his heart beating loud. It was probably because we were both startled. I wonder if he can hear mine. Probably. We're this close.

"Might as well sit on my lap!" I said shoving him away. "Can I?" He said with his stupid silly side smile. "Where's the guard?" He asked when he realised there was noone at the door amymore. "He's been gone for a few minutes now. What are you so zoned out for?" I scolded. "Now for the hundredth time. What the hell are we doing here? And why are we hiding from the guard?"
"Just trust me. You're gonna love this." He said grabbing my wrist and guiding me into the building and towards the elevator. "Shit! Where are the rice cakes?" He jumped. "Are you dumb or dumb? You made me hold them. Did you forget?" I said holding up the bag of rice cakes. "Phew! I thought I lost them."

"We're here. Be ready to see the most beautiful view of your life!" He said in a formal voice that sounded very awkward coming from him. I stepped out of the elevator. The elevator door revealed the terrace of the building. I looked at the stunning view of the city. The whole city was visible from here. I could also see the outline of some mountains. The sun was setting between those covering the whole city in orange. It was indeed the most beautiful view of my life. "Shocked, aren't you?" Shinchan said. "This is beautiful." I said without taking my eyes off of the beauty of the city. "I told you it was worth it!" He said handing me a rice cake. I nodded. It was worth it just like he said.

"I have always wanted to bring someone I like here." I chocked on my rice cake. "Why are you telling me that?" Shinchan is really dumb. He never filters his thoughts before opening his mouth. "Just saying." He shrugged. It was indeed a great place to bring your lover. "So do you have someone you like?" I asked out of curiosity. "Yeah. I do. But I think it's one sided." He said. If he likes someone, there's a fair chance the person reciprocates his feelings. "What's she like?" I asked. "She? I mean yeah she's nice." That's not an answer. Whatever. If he doesn't want to tell me so be it. But I'm genuinely curious what kind of person someone like Shinchan would like. Probably a girl with good looks. I doubt he cares about her personality. Shinchan from 5 years ago wouldn't. But so many things have changed since I left. Though he is still the same in so many things, somethings seem to have changed. He seems more mature. As mature as someone like Shinchan can get.

"Do you like someone?" He asked. Do I like someone? Never. Never again. Not anymore.
