This was the third time Kade had to untie the bow around his collar. The last thing he wanted was to attend this party. But the invitation was from Czar Bacardi himself who was the alpha of the White Wolf pack, which was one of the longest reigning packs of all time alongside the Centauri's. No one in their right mind would deny the invitation, especially if they wanted entry to the high society of the shifter world.
Czar was a notorious alpha who ruled his pack with an authority that could never be challenged. No one ever tried except some few like Lucas Waldorf. That was one of the reasons, Kade met Czar in Italy. He visited for work with his wife and Kade invited them to his own hotel for their trip. He introduced himself as an ally and fellow supporter of hating Lucas Waldorf since Czar shared the same disdain. However, now that Kade recalled, Czar never mentioned Alec or Vadik in their conversations. Maybe, he didn't associate with the Waldorf brothers. They probably weren't coming to the party either, which was good for Kade. The last person he needed to see was Alexander Waldorf.
Alec's name lingered on Kade's lips just like how their kiss burrowed itself into every morsel of his body. He stared up at his reflection unable to recognize the man before him. Despite, the same green eyes, grim scowl and the luxurious black tuxedo he adorned, Kade couldn't bear the shard of lingering lust that possessed his dark gaze.
Day or night, Kade relived the memory of pressing his mouth against Alec's lips. Both of them overcome by the tantalizing fire and consumed to madness. He daringly deepened the kiss and admired every second of how Alec unravelled beneath him. The fire ignited inside Kade and he was swallowed in its depths, that were only sated when he remembered Alexander.
Kade ignored his wolf these two weeks as well. Blocking his voice and his damned opinion that claimed that Alec was their mate, which was absolutely absurd. There was no way in hell that they were mates. This attraction was mere lust, that had to be controlled. Kade had no choice but to suppress his desires because he'd rather die than give in to them again.
Kade finally perfected the bow and was done getting dressed when there was a knock at his door. "Come in," he said.
Dario appeared dressed in his own black suit, his hair stylishly raked back but the scar across his eye more prominent now. He held the door open. "We're ready," he said.
Kade gave a curt nod and Dario left. He stayed alone in his room that was his last moment to regain his strength because parties were where people gossiped and what better to talk about than the Guerriero name and its tainted past.
He ignored the burrowing sickness that sat in his stomach. Grabbing his cellphone off the dresser, he left his room and joined everyone downstairs. Nikolai dressed in all black, the golden tone of his skin glowed. He stood with his dark hair raked back and his silvery-grey eyes beaming in delight to be going to a party rather than a mission.
Mia appeared dressed beautifully in a white silk gown that mimicked melted pearls. Her dark hair was curled and put in a chignon on her head with diamonds glittering around it like a crown.
"You look beautiful, bambina," Kade took her arm in his own.
"Thank you," she smiled with delight in her eyes. "You're all looking quite handsome as well." Nikolai and Mia got into conversation.
Kade never saw this easy side in his sister ever since their parents and brother died. He wondered what brought this change in her all of a sudden? She was smiling more and he caught her walking a few times without her limp too. Perhaps, her therapy sessions were going well.
They left the house and drove to the party in separate cars.
After passing through the city's traffic, they arrived at the massive property that belonged to the Bacardi family. Many cars were inching closer towards the extravagant palace, valets helped the guests get off at the front entrance where the massive doors were left open exposing the lustrous golden lights and red carpet.
