A month passed since they all returned to New York. The Guerriero estate had been renovated and there was no sign that there was ever an attack here.

The sun hadn't risen over the horizon just yet when Kade opened his eyes. He laid beside the love of his life who was soundly asleep under the duvet. Alec's dark hair tousled, he stared at the way the marks covered all over his mate's neck and chest. Kade reached over and touched his cheek, the warmth comforted him as he stayed watching his beautiful mate. He could lean over and kiss him, touch him and hold him. But he had to go somewhere this morning and he had to do it alone.

Kade got out of bed and freshened up before he pulled on a black suit. He came up to the bed where Alec was still fast asleep. He leaned over his mate and kissed his smooth cheek.

"I'll be back," he whispered.

He left the bedroom and crossed the quiet house that was empty. He made it downstairs and picked up the bouquet of white tulips, that he prepared last night.

"Brother," a voice called out softly behind him.

Kade turned finding his sister holding a bouquet in her own arms and she wore a black dress. He was surprised she was here since he didn't tell her where he was going.

"You didn't think I'd let you go alone, did you?" she said as she held her hand out to him.

Kade faced his sister's soft green eyes. He didn't say a word but took her hand in his own and they went to the car together to visit their parents and brother.

Neither of them said anything as he drove. Usually, he'd go to the cemetery with heavy heart and guilt burdening his soul. His family was killed by a vile man who didn't know kindness. But it took Kade a long time to face the truth that his family didn't die because of his own mistakes. He couldn't have stopped their death even if he tried. He could only live with the truth now. And it took Alec coming into his life to learn that about himself.

They arrived at the lonesome cemetery that a blanket of mist concealing the green grass as the thin golden light peered over the horizon. He parked the car and they both got out together. They walked across the pavement and saw the three graves. Kade and Mia came and stood in front of it. He took out his handkerchief and wiped the old leaves and dust away from the grave top. He saw his mom, dad and brother's names all carved into the stone.

Mia put the flowers down and he put the tulips in front of his mom's headstone. They faced the graves that held their past engraved into the stone, neither of them could speak but it wasn't painful. Kade just didn't know what to say or do for them. They died and left Mia and Kade to live on alone. All the memories of their family came flooding back inside Kade and he felt as if someone had a fist around his heart.

He looked down at his sister who was wiping away her tears. He put his hand on her shoulder but he didn't know how to console her. They would never move on from the death of the people they loved. Both of them just had to accept it. Death broke families and it was the bitter truth of life.

"Do you think they can see us?" Mia asked him.

Kade didn't have an answer because he didn't really believe in afterlife. But if the past few months taught him anything, it was that his beliefs weren't always correct. "Maybe," he answered her.

Mia revealed a smile. "We got married," she said to the graves. "We're both happy with our mates and I'm even pregnant now-"

Kade gaped at his sister. "What!"
