Eternal Love: A Milarion Fanfic

Chapter 8

Normal POV
The next day
Clarion and Milori were seated in a room with their most trusted reporter for their interview
Int: "Your Majesty, Lord Milori, congratulations to you both."
Clarion: "Thank you,"
Int: "Can we start with the proposal and the actual moment of your engagement? When did it happen? How did it happen?"
Milori: "It happened just yesterday actually. At my ice palace."
Clarion: "We were opening our gifts and he gave me this gorgeous necklace for Christmas so I had him put it on me and when I turned around he was down on one knee with a ring in his hand. We got my whole family there and his sister was there with us and it was this beautiful moment."
Int: "And was it an instant yes from you?"
Clarion: "Yeah. He had this whole romantic monologue and I let him finish because I love his monologues but the whole time I was just thinking 'Are you done yet? Can I say yes now?'"
Int: "And this is how long after you met?"
Milori: "Since we met? It's been probably about twelve years since we met but we were separated for ten of those so in reality it's been about two and a half that we've been together." Milori said
Int: "So since you brought up the separation, let's talk about it for a minute. Ten years is a long time to be apart and then come back together and get engaged just six months later. What has that been like? Have you had to get to know each other again or was it like you picked up right where you left off?"
Clarion: "It was kind of a combination. We had to get to know each other again as anyone would have to after that much time apart but at the same time it felt like nothing had changed."
Int: "And you've only been back together for six months which is quite a whirlwind. Has it felt like that to you?"
Milori: "I don't think that I would call it a whirlwind in terms of our relationship. There's definitely been layers attached with the distance and the border issues and how public the last 6 months have been after two years where no one knew, not to mention the grief that came from ten years apart but no, I think we were able to really have so much time just to connect and we made time to see each other every day so it worked out pretty well."
"So, how did you first meet?"
Clarion: "We met actually completely by accident. I had just found out that I was set to be the princess and I went for a walk to clear my head a bit and I kind of got lost in my thoughts and found myself at the border. Every instinct I had was screaming at me to run because at the time, it was forbidden to be that close to the border but i was mesmerized by the view and while I was staring at the mountains, he came from behind a tree and we both went to the edge of our side of the border and we introduced ourselves and  i think, for me anyway, it only took that one conversation and i was in love."
Int: "So it was love at first sight?"
Milori: "It was very much love at first sight for both of us. We both went home with sort of this unspoken agreement to meet at the border again the next day. I wanted to see her, she wanted to see me and so began a tradition. We met every night at the border for two years and besides my sister and our best friends, no one knew for a good portion of that. At some point we decided to tell some of our other close friends and her family who didn't know but for us to go public was a huge deal and we knew it would cause a ruckus but i don't think we were prepared for what came next."
Int: "The criticism?"
Milori: "The mistruths too. There was this misconception that because I was royalty in my own right, this would be something I'd be familiar with but even though I've been in the spotlight since I was a teenager I've never been part of tabloid culture. The winter reporters are way less intense than here on the warm side."
Clarion: "And we were just hit so hard at the beginning with a lot of mistruths that we both made the choice to not read anything, positive or negative. It just didn't make sense and instead we focused all of our energies just on nurturing our relationship."
Int: And some of that criticism was centered around the fact that you're a winter fairy, Lord Milori. When you realized that, what did you think?"
Milori: "Well, we knew going in that that was going to happen and we both dealt with our fair share of it."
Int: "What do you mean by that?"
Milori: Well, what most people saw was me getting the attacks online from certain groups of warm fairies and the tabloids but Clarion took some of it over in winter."
Int: "From who?"
Clarion: "Lord Charles."
Milori: "So, anyway, we both took our fair share of the attacks but at the end of the day I'm really just proud of who I am and where I come from, and we have never put any focus on that. We've just focused on who we are as a couple. And so when you take all those extra layers away and all of that noise, I think it makes it really easy to just enjoy being together and tune all the rest of that out."
Int: But now that it's all official, do you guys have that sense that the combination of the two of you, you're different backgrounds, that you together represent something new for Pixie Hollow?"
Clarion: "Yeah. I think we are a breath of fresh air in a way. It's been a while since we've had a royal wedding so I know there's a lot of people who are excited for us and for our wedding. And it's a matter of having someone to help balance each other's workloads because this job isn't easy and I couldn't imagine doing this with anyone other than the person i love most in the world."
Milori: And for me, it's as much about love as it is having a teammate. And we're going to be a great team. The fact that I fell in love with Clarion so incredibly quickly was a sort of confirmation to me that everything, all the stars were aligned. Everything was just perfect. It was this beautiful woman just sort of that -- she tripped and fell into my life; I fell into her life."
Int: And I assume you've met each other's families. What was that like? What did your parents say about the relationship and the engagement?
Milori: Her family has been so welcoming to me. The first time I met her dad he let me watch hockey with him and her mom is the most amazing cook. Her sisters were a bit skeptical of me at first and rightfully so but they warmed up to me. And then there's her nieces. Lizzy and Sierra are some of the brightest young women I've ever met. Aside from their auntie of course. I'm still learning about her nephews since they're still so young but I'm really looking forward to getting to know them."
Int: "and what about when you met his family?"
Clarion: His sister is amazing. I made her my minister of winter and she's one of my closest friends and actually, she was one of the first people that we told about everything and she's been there for both of us through the separation and everything that came with it so it's really been quite incredible to get to know her the way i've been able to. 
Int: And his parents?
Milori: Most people don't know this about me but my sister and I have been no-contact with our parents since we moved in with Lord Charles at 13.
Int: Oh. There's a story there.
Milori: I would rather not talk about that.
Int: Very well. So, let's talk about your ring. Tell us about the ring.
Milori: The band is made of 18K gold which is her favorite and then the center stone is sourced from the winter mines and the side stones are from one of the mines here on the warm side.
Int: and you also gave her a promise ring when you were kids right?
Milori: Yes.
Int: Can you tell us about that?
Clarion: so, my promise ring is also made of gold and it has the word love written on it but the o in love is an infinity loop with both of our birthstones. It's really a very pretty and very special ring for me. I kept it locked in a jewelry box for 10 years during the separation so to finally be able to wear it again feels really good.
Int: And you asked her dad before you proposed right?
"Yes. I asked Craig before proposing to Clarion and I actually asked Lisa as well. They were both overjoyed to hear the news and gave their blessings in a heartbeat.
Int: Well, we're all very excited for your wedding.
Clarion: We're excited too.
The cameras shut off, everyone got up and the interviewer said
"Congrats again guys."
"Thank you."
"You're very welcome."

Sorry about the short chapter! I really wanted to do an interview chapter and I felt like it needed to be a separate chapter so I used Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's engagement interview as a template to write the interview for Clarion and Milori. I hope you enjoyed it!
