Clarion and Milori walked out of the interview room hand in hand and wandered right into Clarion's office to make a list. It was a list of things to do to get the wedding planned. They had to find so many people to help them. Most royalty hired wedding planners to do everything for them but Clarion and Milori were determined to plan their own wedding. It was the best thing that they could think of for how to not let their wedding get taken over by protocols. Their list of things to do was as follows:
Pick a location
Pick a date
Make a guest list
Flesh out full wedding party
Talk to the kitchen staff about catering
Pick colors
Hire photographer
Figure out the music
Start designing the dress (Clarion had a few ideas already in her sketchbook)
Decide where everyone would get ready
Invitations
Bridesmaid dresses
Flowers
Ceremony music
Figure out officiant
Plan honeymoon
Get suit done
Talk to the baking talents about cake
Order wedding bands
Groomsmen suits
Hair and makeup trial with the girls
Create menu
Write vows
Create music playlist
Create seating chart
Place cards
Looking at this list, they realized what they were in for. They looked at each other and their faces told each other everything they needed to know. They were really going to need to lean on each other to get through this.
"We've got this." said Clarion "We're going to do this the way we want to."
"Together..." Started Milori
"Forever," finishes Clarion.
The pair sat in the office working on the guest list but were soon interrupted by Milori's phone ringing. The caller ID came up as unknown so Milori dismissed the call but whoever was on the other side called back almost immediately.
"I should take it this time," Milori said as he pressed the answer button. He put the phone on speaker so that Clarion (who had grown curious as to who was this desperate to reach her fiance) could hear as well.
"Hello," he said
"Darling, is that you?" Asked the voice on the other end. Milori froze. He knew that voice all too well."It's my mother," He mouthed to Clarion
"What does she want with you?" Clarion mouthed back. Milori shrugged and said very flatly
"Angela."
"Now now darling boy, none of this Angela nonsense. It's Mummy, remember."
"What do you want?"
"To congratulate you on your engagement, darling boy. Engaged to the Queen, how wonderful is that! I do hope you'll invite your dear mother to the wedding."
"How'd I know that that's what you're on about? I'll be damned if you think you're getting an invite to my wedding."
"Now, darling boy, is that any way to speak to your mother?"
"You're not my mother. And don't call me darling boy. I'm not your darling boy."
"What are you talking about? Of course you're my darling boy. And of course I'm your mother."
"You left me! You left her. Left us. Real mothers don't do that. Real mothers don't abandon their kids. Don't leave their kids with abusive monsters to raise themselves. That's what you did to us. We were 9! I was 9 years old and had to raise myself and try to protect my sister from that god-awful man who was unfortunately our father."
"Darling boy..."
"Don't call me that!!! You're playing the same old game as always. You pretend I don't exist but the minute something big happens in my life you come crawling back begging to get an invite."
"Not true. Give me 1 example of a time I've done that."
"I'll do you one better. I'll give you 3. My coronation, when I moved into the palace and right now, you're begging for an invite to my wedding."
"Oh but darling, that's all water under the bridge..."
"No it's not! I haven't heard from you in 10 years and now you're trying to come crawling back to me because you want something from me. You've done things to me and Snow that we'll never forgive you for. You're not getting an invitation to my wedding. I will give you an invite somewhere though. It's called hell. If you want to go somewhere, you can go there. I never want to hear from you again." Milori hung up the phone angrily and blocked the number before apologizing to Clarion.
"Baby, I'm so sorry."
"You have nothing to apologize for. She deserved every word of that."
"I know she did but I'm sorry you had to see me like that."
"Don't be. Nothing you can do could ever make me love you less than I do right now. Now, do you want to get back to the guest list?"
"What about the music? I need a break from stuff that has to do with people. Let's work on the music playlist."
"Okay. So for our first dance, obviously it's going to be Perfect. And then my dance with my dad, I think I want Free Fallin'. You know, that old Tom Petty song?"
"Oh yeah. I know which one you're talking about."
"And for you... You could probably dance with my mom for a mother son dance."
"I was actually going to dance with my sister instead."
"Oh! That's actually a really good idea. And now that you mention it, I'm thinking about doing a special dance with my sisters as well."
"If you want to, I don't have a problem with it. I know how important your sisters are to you."
"So what song do you and Snow want?"
"I Learned From You By Miley Cyrus."
"Ooh, that's a good one. I think the girls and I are gonna go with "Count on me by Bruno Mars."
"I like that song." They finished writing out their ideas for must play songs and then moved into the wedding party list. It was decided that of course Mary and Dewey would be maid of honor and best man, Snow and Red would be paired, Sunny would pair with Hyacinth, and then Sierra and Aiden, Lizzy and Beckett, Jaina and Tyler, and Jenny would pair with one of Milori's other friends from school. Chloe (in a stroller) would be the flower girl and Chase the ring bearer/ Chloe's stroller pusher. Two months later
Clarion was sitting at her desk with a bunch of papers scattered everywhere. She was working on more wedding stuff and it was starting to stress her out. They had given in to the demands to move their date but they still had so much to do. The banquet had to be planned as did the honeymoon still, the invites still hadn't been sent and there were so many things that had to get done for looks. Clarion was reviewing the guest list again when Milori came in and planted a kiss on her neck.
"Hi, my love," he said in his smooth accent
"Hey babe."
"What are you up to?"
"Working on the guest list for the wedding."
"How's it going?"
"This whole thing is starting to stress me out. The huge banquet, the 500 people, this isn't at all what I imagined for my wedding. You know how I am. I like simple things. I want to marry you at the border with my parents and my sisters there andlike 50 of our close friends. I don't want any of this whole chapel wedding with 500 people because that's not me! It's just not and I don't want that but I have to have that because it's what my people expect of me. It's what they expect of us."
"If you don't want it then we don't have to do it. I know you think you're letting someone down by saying no but you're not. You're showing them that you don't care what people think and that you're confident enough in yourself to do what you want. I'll tell you what, here's what we're going to do. We're going to make a few changes. We cut the guest list way down, switch our location to the border, have my sister officiate since she doesn't really want to be in the wedding party anyway and Jenny can pair with Red, we have your mom do the food and the palace can still do the cake but we're cutting the huge banquet dinner. We can go wherever you want for the honeymoon. You pick a place and I'll take you there. With all of that massive amount of planning cut, we can even have the wedding this year instead of next. We're taking back control and we're going to do this the way we want. Sound like a plan?"
"But what about sir Alwyn?"
"He can just deal with it. I don't give a damn what he thinks because his rules are messing with you and no one messes with my baby. If he wants to get mad he can get mad at me because I'm giving you the wedding you deserve. The wedding we deserve."
"Thanks babe."
"Anything for my girl." Milori kissed her and walked out.Surprise! Double update because i'm bored! Also because both of these chapters are really short. This one is mostly just a filler but it needed to be a separate chapter. The wedding chapter is in the process of being written (it's almost finished) and just a heads up, y'all are gonna cry when you read the vows. I almost cried while writing them!
