"You are so cheating" Anna yelled pointing at Dawson before Trenton and Maddy tackled him from his criss cross position on the floor as they did, Anna searched the floor, "AHH HAA" She held up a small stack of uno cards.
"Dawson Landon Grims got to time out" Maddy pointed to the chair.
"Im 26 you can't put m-"
"Now" Maddy bossed and Dawson deflated putting his head down but the smile on his face was undeniable. He moved to a chair in the corner of the room and sat there silently while Trenton began laughing his ass off that Maddy was able to put his best friend in time out. "He doesn't get any cookies"
"But-"
"No cookies." Maddy reiterated, giving Dawson a look. Their matching smiles gave them away though.
"Maddy come help me real quick" Anna said nodding towards the kitchen. Getting up Maddy gave Dawson the 'im watching you' gesture before following Anna into the kitchen. "What's up with you and Dawson?" Anna asked once they got into the kitchen and Maddy pulled herself onto the counter.
"Nothing sadly. Christine is still playing with him. He has tried to talk to her apparently but she just maneuvers her way out of the conversation. Dawson doesn't want to start anything with me until he knows Christine won't be an issue." Maddy deflated and crossed her arms over her chest.
"You guys like each other, right?"
"I mean I think I like him. We get along really well and I don't know. We flirt and sometimes he comes up behind me and holds me like we are together but then he pulls away and I keep coming back to the fact that he's not mine"
Anna listened intently as Maddy poured out her frustrations and uncertainties about her relationship with Dawson. She could sense the conflicting emotions swirling within her friend, torn between her feelings for Dawson and the reality of his complicated situation with Christine.
"I get it, Mads," Anna said sympathetically, reaching out to give Maddy's hand a reassuring squeeze. "It's tough when you're caught in the middle like that, especially when you have such strong feelings for someone."
"I just wish things were simpler, you know? I hate feeling like I'm constantly waiting for him to break up with her" Maddy sighed, running a hand through her hair in frustration.
"Maybe it's time to have a real conversation with him about where you both stand. It might be scary, but at least you'll know where you stand and you can decide how you want to move forward." Anna held Maddy's hand helping her off the counter.
"You're right but I'm just going to leave it be for now just see what happens and if nothing changes in a week or so Ill ask. If something happens between Dawds and I before then though I will talk to him about it."
"Good job now lets go back before they riot" Anna smiled bringing Maddy back towards the living room where Trenton and Dawson were arguing about the rules of Uno.
Returning to the living room, Anna and Maddy found Trenton and Dawson still engrossed in their Uno game, their argument over the rules growing more heated by the minute.
"Alright, boys, what's going on here?" Anna interjected, her tone playful as she stepped between them.
"Dawson here thinks he can stack a Draw 4 on top of another Draw 4, which is clearly against the rules," Trenton exclaimed, shooting Dawson a playful glare.
Dawson rolled his eyes, shaking his head in mock disbelief. "That's not what I said! You just don't want to admit that I'm about to win."
"Let's settle this once and for all," Maddy chimed in, her competitive spirit kicking in as she grabbed the rulebook from the game box. "We'll consult the official Uno rules and see who's right."
With that, they all leaned over the rule book.
"Nicely done, Babe," Anna praised, clapping her hands as she leaned back in her chair.
"Told you I was unbeatable," Trenton joked, puffing out his chest proudly.
Dawson chuckled, conceding defeat with good humor. "Alright, alright, you win this time. But next time, I'm coming for that title."
Maddy smirked, leaning over to playfully ruffle Dawson's hair. "Sure you are, champ."
"Don't talk to me like that" He rolled his eyes trying to fix his messed up hair.
"Like what" Maddy challenged
Leaning closer trying to appear intimidating "Like I'm some kid your babysitting" Dawson said.
"Aren't you though?" She was messing with him, Anna and Trenton just looked at each other laughing lightly.
"I'll show you how much of a kid I'm not" He smirked just as the timer on the oven went off.
"Cookies, Yay" Anna stood up instantly trying to make the really awkward sexual tension leave the room. Maddy and Dawson cleared their throats before following their friends into the kitchen.
"I think I should get going" Dawson said loudly patting his thighs before standing. He hugged Trenton goodbye and fist bumped Anna, turning to Maddy he smiled and walked out the door.
Maddy raised her hand slightly "I should go too work tomorrow" Maddy added saying goodbye to her friends. Anna waved Maddy out and locked the door behind her.
"Looks like it's just you and me now," Trenton remarked, a playful twinkle in his eye as he crawled towards her laying her down gently as he hovered over her on the couch.
"Just the way I like it," she replied, wrapping her arms around his neck pulling his lips to hers.
Kissing Trenton slowly, she felt him adjust their position before lifting them both up walking towards the bedroom. Laying Anna back down onto the mattress they both tore off their shirts.
Trenton kissed down Annas chest pausing briefly near her breasts giving each one attention before traveling south.
