"Luan." A familiar voice calls out to him as he wakes up back in his shack. There was an elven girl with skin as light and pure as milk and hair as dark as the night sky to contrast.
" Right... " Luan thought to himself as the elven girl continued scolding him. Talking about how worried the others were and such. " Neia always felt ashamed of her hair because of her human mother. Elves usually have lighter hair colors. "
*THOCK*
"I always wondered why your head sounded so hollow every time I hit it! You weren't listening to a word I said, were you?! Lost in thought again like always!" Neia, the elven girl shouts as Luan holds his head and rolls from side to side in bed silently. Her fist still clenched and ready for another attack.
" If I wanted a physical elf, then I would've gone to the north... "
"What was that?!"
"Nothing, nothing." Luan sighed shortly, sitting up from his bed and holding his forehead as it throbbed.
Neia crosses her arms and shifts her weight to her other foot, looking unamused and more pissed than anything. There were dark circles under her eyes and the plants around Luan's house were being affected badly.
Right, he had plants.
"I just... worry about you." She groans, slumping onto Luan's bed and laying on his legs with her arms sprawled out like a child's.
"I'm not a pillow."
"You don't understand how much you worry us sometimes, Lulu."
"I told you not to call me that."
"Besides, you've always been so strangely fixated on dying despite being a human. Your lifespan is so short already, so I don't understand why you need to rush it."
Neia then stopped talking and closed her eyes, putting her hands behind her head and waiting a few moments before peeking over at Luan's dazed expression again. Only one eye open as she peeks at him from the corner of her eye.
"...Ughh... Fine! I'll be your plant. You've got an hour, MAX." She gets up and turns her body, sitting cross-legged and putting her elbow on her leg, resting her chin near the edge of her palm as her fingers curl towards her lips. A moody look on her face that didn't look so convincing.
"You look old, but you haven't changed a bit, you know that? Always hiding things and acting like every day is your last."
"Neia Reykas Miaven."
Her posture changed immediately as her full name was called. Her back straightened and her arm slowly dropped into her lap. Even her face changed into a more serious one. Luan would've commented on it to push her buttons on any other day, but something about this moment felt so... temporary.
He couldn't put his finger on it, but there was an urge to say his goodbyes.
"I'm sorry for worrying you all so much, but trust me, I'm fine." Suddenly, it was just them. His plants were gone and some of the surrounding area as well, as if it were all wet paint dripping off of a canvas; leaving only them sitting on the bed.
"..You remind me of someone I lost a long time ago." Luan smiles, putting his scarred hand on top of Neia's head and watching her ears twitch and her eyes flickering from his face to down into her lap as if she had written answers on the palms of her hands.
